Clearwater Beach

With hundreds of things to do on Clearwater Beach, the main attraction is still pretty much its near-perfect beach (USA Today readers voted Clearwater Beach "Best Beach Town in Florida" in 2013). Beautiful white sand and clear, shallow water make this beach an ideal playground for families.

We loved walking along the beach, lovely fine white sand. Sunsets were beautiful, Saw dolphins as well from Pier 60.

Philippe Park

An historical site and park containing an ancient ceremonial mound from the area's sizeable Native American settlement.

There is much to do in this nice sized park: go for a long walk, launch a boat, have your children play in the playground, or just sit on one of the benches and look at the upper part of the upper Tampa Bay. Next time I go I will bring something to eat because it is very peaceful park.

There is plenty of free parking except for those towing a boat.

John Chesnut Sr. Park

This park has many diverse things to offer. The boat launch on Lake Tarpon gives you access to myriad water recreation types. But watch out for gators! Anyway, we've visited the playgrounds, wandered on the paths and boardwalks, and just hung out for a picnic at one of its many shelters. It's a beautiful park.

It also is the formal endpoint of the Pinellas Trail. You can get on your bike there and ride all the way down to Fort DeSoto. So many places to go.

Clean and well-maintained, it's worth a visit.

We didn't know what to expect showing up here and we were pleasantly surprised! Our toddler had a blast. The staff was very nice and there was actually quite a bit to do. You can do a pony ride for just $3 extra which my toddler really enjoyed. There is a Guinea pig area where you are allowed to pick them up and have your children hold them which was really cute. They have all kinds of animals! Farm animals, exotic animals, reptiles, birds, etc! The coolest animals in my opinion was the Zorse! A mix between a zebra and a horse. Beautiful animal. They have a petting farm area where you can hand ferrets, walk a goat, go in the pen with large bunnies, pet a mini pony, feed the goats, pet a llama, pet a pig, etc. They have a train ride that departs hourly that you can ride. They have a massive bird area with lots of birds to see including large exotic ones that will talk back to you and a pen you can go in with tons of little birds flying around. They also have a reptile room, a bat room, lots of horses to meet in their stalls, and just a different animal around every corner. The wolf dogs were beautiful, the deer were so sweet and eagerly offered kisses through their fence, and the albino raccoon was so cool. Watch out cause I am pretty sure one of the lemurs was trying to mark me! lol! There is also a children's playground too which was nice and they had a fire pit going since it was actually a cold day in Florida. They have a play area too with tire swings and ziplines and such. Definitely worth a visit and it is wonderful to know it is a non-profit really trying to help the animals.

Marina Park is located adjacent to the Safety Harbor Spa and Resort on Tampa Bay looking east to the City of Tampa. A dock and safe harbor for large and small craft. Inasmuch as the town celebrated its 100 year anniversary of incorporation in 2017, you can still enjoy "grapefruit" art here on a board...discs fabricated by local artists...mature and budding... You can picnic under the gazebo and enjoy the fountain and street art. Lots of parking. And as you head back south, do follow the water on your let or interesting changing viwes and water life.
