Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park

We visited this wonderful museum a year ago and it was so fulfilling. The memorabilia and the care for the exhibits is great. The highlight for us was to opportunity to watch and listen to a group of ladies who actually worked at the plant during the war. They were vibrant and had insights that showed what was needed during the war effort. If you have any interest in the Second World War this is the closest living exhibit you can see and hear. I am in awe of the women who spoke and gave us their insight into the war effort. There is also a very good restaurant next door which makes the day totally fulfilling.

Had some close friends in from out of town for a reunion and decided to go to Omescape as a random activity. We absolutely had a blast. The puzzles were challenging without being overtly frustrating, and it greatly encouraged teamwork, which was of course the goal. Give it a try! You won't be disappointed.

Park, great for dog walking and windsurf launches.

Point Isabel is a must for visitors with dogs, but even if you are without a pet, this gorgeous spot, right on San Francisco Bay with gorgeous views of San Francisco and Marin County always satisfies. There is ample parking and a lovely flat trail. Best of all is the sight of all those off-leash doggies frolicking with each other in and out of the water and their friendly owners. There is also a very good coffee shop with food and outdoor seating and a pet supply store with wash facilities for doggies that get too dirty to get back in the car. We call it Disneyland for dogs.

Middle son (age 25) wanted to go for a hike and have a Father's Day experience. So we went on Monday and it was gorgeous. A spectacular day weather-wise, great views and great trails. Saw osprey right over the fishing pier, as well as close-ups of young pelicans, and watched two guys land the largest bat ray I have ever seen caught in the Bay. Best part - they carefully removed hook and returned to the water. we took the longest rail possible by always choosing the perimeter trails, and I guess it was about 3 miles. Couldn't beat the company, weather or price. Give this place try. Bring the kids bikes!

Wildcat Canyon Regional Park

Reviewed By QuangBee - Walnut Creek, United States

Interesting hike ending at the remains of the Grande Vista Sanitarium, founded by Dr. Hendrik Belgum in the early 1900's to treat patients with mental disorders. The remains include fruit trees, palm trees, and the foundation "to insure our guests an abundance of fresh, wholesome, nourishing food, so essential to the restoration of health," per the hospital's brochure. The panoramic view of the Bay Area along the hill includes the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the Bay Bridge... with cows scattered along the road. The whole loop along the perimeter is considered as "moderate" level per East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD), which started out as flat along the Wildcat Creek Trail, then the fun begins among the fields of cows when I turned to the Mezue Trail as I hike up and down the hills. Lastly, I took the San Pablo Trail and ended the loop with the Belgum Trail where a mental hospital used to be. The trail described took about 3 hours because I stopped frequently to stare at cows and looked at the panoramic view of the Bay Area - especially towards San Francisco
