We went to the fort at the end of the season so all of the positions were not filled that day, but the people that were there were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They told us a lot of things that we did not know about the time period and how they survived in the area.

White Hall State Historic Site was the home of Cassius Marcellus Clay, 19th century emancipationist, politician, newspaper publisher, Ambassador to Russia, and friend to Abraham Lincoln. The restored Italianate mansion was built in 1798 and remodeled in the 1860s. General Green Clay built the original brick Georgian-style home called Clermont. Cassius M. Clay inherited the house upon his father’s passing. He and his wife Mary Jane Warfield Clay built the new addition that more than doubled the size of the house and added such modern amenities as indoor plumbing and central heating.
This beautiful and historical mansion is easy to get to off I 75 exit 92. It is the former home of Cassius Marcellus Clay and many of the artifacts belonged to his family. They give tours of the mansion every hour on the hour from...MoreWe are so glad that you enjoyed your tour off White Hall! Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our historic site.

If you are interested in the Civil War, or in learning a little about the history of our country, this is an interesting exhibit. The visitor's center is loaded with information about the Battle of Richmond including small brochures on many of the individuals who fought or were involved in some way. There are also some multimedia exhibits that are interesting. The gentleman who was working the day I visited was extremely nice and took them time to inform me about many aspects of the battle. Do drive further down the highway to the church that was used as a hospital, etc., and is still an active church to this day.

I visited the EKU Center for the Arts for the first time to watch a Russian ballet company perform Sleeping Beauty. It's easy to get in and out of, and the seating is comfortable. All in all, it was a great experience to visit here.

Baldwin Farms is a working farm featuring landscape trees in the spring, summer produce and farmers markets in the summer, a Pumpkins and More Pumpkin Festival in the fall and cut-your-own live Christmas trees and live greenery in the winter. We have an on-site Kelly House Market featuring local honey, Amish jams, Baldwin Farms Salsas and more, along with farm-grown seasonal produce. During Pumpkins and More season, you're invited to spend family time with activities for the children like pony rides, Mt. Baldwin Hill, caterpillar, rolling tumblers, hay maze, corn maze, and more. Reserve one of our picnic shelters for a party or event.
Baldwin Farms has the best tomato's and sweet corn that you will find anywhere. Half runner beans are good also, however, she was sold out on the day we were there. You will have a great experience just visiting the farm.

I always enjoy my visit to the Battle of Richmond Visitors Center. But this place is not the same as the visitors center up the road. The Battlefield Park is a county owned facility about a mile or two down the road. Even though I am familiar with this area and civil war history, I was totally unaware of this park.
It is significant for a couple of reasons. The park overlooks Churchill's Draw where the Texas Mounted Infantry Regiments mounted a surprise flank attack and began the route of the Union Army here. Most unusual is the Texas Sunset Granite marker placed by there by the Texas Historical Commission in 2009 to commemorate the service of the Texans there. It is one of only two such markers located within the state of Kentucky.
THe setting includes a well preserved farm house and outbuilding which seems to date to prior to the Civil War. There are several walking trails and picnic tables.
THe park is located on top of a hill and you can see the edge of the Appalachian Mountains at Big Hill in one direction and the Bluegrass region of central Kentucky in the other. THis park is adjacent to the WIlderness Road too.

Located on 470 acres of beautiful Kentucky countryside, Chenault Vineyards is located 30 minutes south of Lexington among the beautiful hills of Richmond, Kentucky. Whether you are looking for a one-of-a-kind place to take friends and family, a stunning site for your next picnic or party, or an ideal location for your next corporate event or wedding, Chenault Vineyards is it.
We had a Cousin’s Ancestry Crawl in Montgomery, Clark, and Madison counties exploring our Kentucky forefathers. We discovered and chose Chenault Vineyards for lunch and made advance reservations. After being seated we discovered they only serve breakfast to 2:00 and lunch afterwards. We were disappointed and thought we would have to leave since we already had our lunch. But the Cafe said they would serve us lunch as we had requested. It was very good and we all enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance. Glad they chose to serve and please us.

My daughter learned how to play violin here, so in a way it is more a community thing vs travel destination, but they do sponsor a bunch of art shows or other productions. Look for a schedule of events for Richmond, they will generally be involved.

The big sister to the Spotlight Playhouse 14 minutes down the road in Berea, The Spotlight Theatre at Richmond Mall is a traditional theater specializing in the production of musicals, plays and concerts.
This theater is a hidden gem in Richmond. Shows nearly every weekend. Great children's programs as well as professional plays of all genres.
