Each of my full day custom photo tours will start around 10:00 am and run roughly 8 hours (weather permitting). Half day tours are also available and run roughly 4 hours. Each tour will begin and end at my studio in Taos. (To begin tours in Santa Fe I will charge a $50 fuel fee for the extra drive between Taos & Santa Fe). There are no specific photographic abilities required for these tours other than a general knowledge of the workings of your camera and wanting to go out have some fun. If needed I will be available to help you better understand the use of your camera. My intention with my tours is to show you the wonder and beauty of Northern New Mexico and have you go home with some images that you would want to hang on your wall. If you have some specific locations that you would like to visit, contact me for customized tours and pricing.

Buttressed church photograhed by legendary photographer Ansel Adams, and painted by famed artist Georgia O'Keeffe.
Easy to see how this beautiful New Mexico Spanish Colonial Church inspired artists like Georgia O'Keefe and Ansel Adams to capture its unique charm. With clean adobe lines and huge buttresses, it is an architectural and spiritual gem. Built between 1772 and 1816, it is the only original church which remains intact in the Taos area. As an active place of worship, the parishioners and the community members gather annually to re-plaster the historic adobe church. Known as "The Enjarre" or "The Mudding" of the church, volunteers mix an authentic blend of clay, sand, straw, and water into a thick mud paste. Layer by layer, the paste is applied from the top to the bottom of the church and then buffed with a sheepskin to reinforce the walls to be a resilient barrier to withstand the elements for another year. A bit tricky to find as the church is tucked away off the main highway, but definitely worth a visit.

It seems like a forgotten warehouse in the middle of nowhere, & then you enter a charmed space. We were lucky to be able to see some of the drum makers stretching the hide for the drums & were blown away with the vast array of rugs, drums, carvings, etc. It was easy for our group of 5 to each find something authentic to buy & to remember our visit to NM. The staff is friendly & knowledgeable. Taos Drum might appear off the beaten path but it's a definite museum of native & historical merchandise worthy of a visit.

Beautiful rugs, jewelry, pottery, paintings, etc. The knowledgeable employees will be able to describe the techniques of the artists and the history of each item. This is one of my favorite places to shop.

First of all, this is NOT the plaza in downtown Taos. This is where the beautiful church that Ansel Adams, O'Keefe, and thousands of others have painted or photographed. Absolutely stunning and historic plaza. I like to come early in the morning and later in the evening as the light changes. There are a couple of shops and restaurants in this little plaza. You are also welcome to attend the church services, which is really a wonderful experience regardless of your religious beliefs. Lots of history and beauty in such a small area.
