One of Tenerife's top resorts, Puerto de la Cruz is on the north coast of the island. Both Spanish and island traditions are evident in the former fishing village. Its Sardine Festival and annual Carnaval are two highlights of life on the island. Busy, narrow streets of the Old Town, packed with colonial architecture, make walking a safer bet than driving. Popular attractions include Lago Martianez, the casino, Parrot Pool, the Banana Plantation and the Botanical Gardens, which date back to 1788.

Loro Parque is the world-famous and adored by all animal adventure park in the Canaries. Get ready for excitement and fun at this "must see" attraction..
This is a great zoo with a lot of interesting shows and animals to see. I would recommend everything, but to pick a few of the favourites, I'll say you definitely don't want to miss the penguins, whales, dolphins, gorillas, lions and the macaw aviary. If you want to attend all the shows, you probably have to plan a little bit and be there in the morning.

This beach can be reached by 30/40 minutes walk from the top of Puerto de la Cruz which it's in it self quite nice. There is also a snack bar on the beach.
If you are interested there is a very nice Spanish restaurant near by, the San Diego.

We enjoyed a stroll around this splendid formal garden, which has a café facility. The views from the elevated site are very impressive.

Stayed here for 3 nights and found 3 good restaurants to eat in, all based on Spanish local food but each one worth a try; Depatanegra was exceptional. Nice town to wonder round but steep hills.

Lovely relaxed afternoon swimming and lounging around in Lago Martianez, swimming in lagoon like swimming pools (with various Beaches to sit on and little caves to explore) and then enjoying my book on a lounger amongst artfully landscaped poolside with ledges to park your lounger...MoreDear MarianneBLondon, Thank you for this detailed and amazing review about your experience. It is a pleasure to know that you had a good experience. We look forward to welcoming you in the future. Best regards,

This is an interesting area to walk around, arty type atmosphere and some great murals painted on the gable ends of the buildings. One building was also covered in a huge blanket made up of colourful crocheted squares, they were also wrapped around some trees as well. There was a map showing were the different paintings were and telling you who had painted them. The area is just past the little harbour, just keep walking along the seafront and you come to it.
