Prestongrange is a site of major importance in the story of Scotland's Industrial Revolution. We are a family friendly site, with a dedicated play area located in the Visitor Centre, entertaining trail sheets and outdoor games with an open play area.Our cafe is located in the Visitor Centre which once served as the miners' canteen. This sculpture was created Cockenzie based sculptor Gardner Molloy, to remember the 200 workers from the town who died in the mines, as well as women and children who had to work with the miners. The monument features an imagined scene inside the mines, with two miner digging for coal. The sculptures of the two miners are hunched over while digging. Their faces perfectly captures the harsh working conditions for the coal workers
