Nice place to stop along the road. Clean bathrooms, nice view of the river, and small playground. There wasn't a lot to see in the visitor center but we enjoyed the exhibits about some of the river's history.

There is a picnic area, playground and pavilion area. The only negative was the horrendous bathrooms. I was unable to enter the restroom due to the overpowering extreme urine smell. It's a long walk to the picnic area and if you are drinking lots of water you are SOL.

Can't go wrong on a nice day. Maps available, but signage could be improved.

No Name Saloon & Monkey Bar

This was a small venue, with a big idea -- an outdoor enclosure with long extended bar -- absolutely the right place to people watch on weekends, when Prescott's population erupts with the rumble of motorcycles, and classic cars. Prescott is the gateway to one of the most scenic highways in the nation: Wisconsin Highway 35...And a seemingly endless parade of people pass through on to points south on the Mississippi River.
Many stop -- and are captured in the festive atmosphere of this venue. It's fun! Early or late, the fun just never stops at the Monkey Bar!

Vermillion Falls

Reviewed By Bird91 - Hastings, Minnesota

My fiancé and I went to vermillion falls with the intention to spend the afternoon hanging out in our hammocks, listening to music, exploring trails, and watching a glorious water fall. We were disappointed by the lack of trees to hang our hammocks from and the trails were not quite what we wanted. We wanted unpaved trails suitable for hiking a few miles through nature. If we go back to Vermillion Falls, I think that biking the trails would be a better use of our time. There also was not enough room to truly escape the city, too many people and not enough big trees.

If you want to see beautiful water falls, drive further north to Willow River State Park in Hudson, WI.

What a pleasure to see and purchase fresh orchard apples. Nicely decorated for the Autumn season and family events as well. This place has a dining area, bakery treats, pumpkin patch, Christmas trees and of course apples and cider. They even include candy and chocolates on their list. I wish I lived closer to this place, they have so very much to offer. A very nice experience.

This place was very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our tastes as we visited with other couples doing the same. The wines were good, we purchased a couple of bottles. We started our Great River Road Wine Trail tour here, the gal showed us the nice glasses we'd receive when we finished. When we did finish - a couple of weeks later - we didn't get the nice glasses she showed us, we instead got some very small ones. Oh well, we still had fun doing it.

Our large group spent an awesome afternoon here tasting wine and eating yummy snacks. Our tasting journey was led by the barkeep Mike, a sensational guy who kept us laughing while keeping our glasses full. The winery occupies a beautiful spot. Grape vines cover trellises and offer shade. There are bocci courts next to picnic tables. You can bring your own food or buy some snacks (not meals) inside. We had delicious wines, many made with Minnesota grown grapes, and a great day.

We stopped in for their fish dinner on a Friday. It's not all you can eat, but for $15.99 you get three large pieces of fish, some mashed potatoes, green beans and soup. I was stuffed. They use Mich Golden Light for their beer batter and for a rather flavorless beer it makes a mighty tasty batter. The food was excellent, service very good and the view of the golf course, albeit in the winter, was nice. I feel like we found a hidden gem. We'll definitely be back. Maybe next time we'll try the prime rib on Saturday. At least for right now they're open 2 nights a week, Fridays and Saturdays.

I love the Hastings Creamery. It's and old town place, But always has fresh food, and I have never bought a gallon of milk that was bad tasting. I hate it when I buy milk at other places, and it is bad tasting, and turning sour right out of the store. But not from the Creamery. It's always Excellant, and Fresh. Try the Milk Shakes. They are the Bomb!
