Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools

We have visited the pools after the volcanic caves tour. Entrance fee to the pools is about 1.5 euros for an adult and 0.5 for children. It worth the visit to see the beautiful waves crashing onto the volcanic rocks forming natural ocean pools. The water during December was freezing and only few brave people went in. The kids though were fascinated of the black crabs climbing on the rocks. A very nice 2 hours to pass with kids even in the winter months.

This one is really easy, but still very nice, good for older people or families with kids but also for easy hikers. Nothing especialy dungerous here, there are some cliffs, waterfalls and the views are very nice.

Aquario da Madeira

TRUE TO ITSELF I'd read about Aquario da Madeira on @tripadvisor and it gets real bad reviews; which I believe to be unfair. It's true to Madeira it's not commercial it's showcasing the varied species of the ocean that surrounds the island! If you've children they'll watch for 30mins fascinated by the numerous species swimming in the tank. Looking for the fish from the charts to see if they can spot them. If in Porto Moniz on a rare cold day this will keep the family happy no end. Visit with an open mind remembering we as humans are the cause to the pollution onslaught of the sea and what little admission money we give goes towards conservation.
