Plaza de Armas in Piura is very nice, there are always people walking and sitting around it, there is a lovely vibe, specially at the weekends, the main square is the city centre, the only downside could be sometimes you can see some female and male prostitutes. During the day is a very good place to sit, relax and see people passing by

Playa Lobitos

Reviewed By Alexander L - Piura, Peru

Lobitos is a weird town, once home to a now-abandoned military base and site to many oil rigs. It´s growing, and home to excellent surf and pretty sunsets, but still lacks in infrastructure (restaurants, stores) and easy transportation (it suffers on Sundays). But it´s a hidden gem among other Beaches in Piura, and highly recommended despite being off the beaten path.

Museo de Sitio Narihuala

Reviewed By Iowasims - Cedar Falls, IA, USA

We visited this site with friends from Piura. It's a site of the Narihuala people who lived between 900-1400. It was a matriarchal society that practiced animal sacrifice. The ruins have been degraded by erosion, but you can still see the altar and main court. A Spanish Catholic Church was built on top of the site, but it was abandoned after an earthquake collapsed the floor into a graveyard. The structure remains.
If you want to see a real hairless Peruvian dog, this is one place where they came from and still live today.
Our tour guides were 10 and 6. They only spoke Spanish, so one of our family members translated what the charming boys explained to us. Most tour guides will be older youth or adults, but none will speak English.
If you are visiting Catacaos for shopping, this isn't very far away and is well worth the visit and the small entrance fee. Some of the artifacts are unique and interesting.

This museum is quite large and set on different floors, but there is not much to see on the upper floors, where artefacts are not well displayed and the setting is rather old-fashioned. But what makes a visit here really worthwhile is the fantastic collection...MoreThanks for your opinion, it's important for us. And we're please that you had a good stay.
