McIntyre's Fine Books and Bookends

Fearrington Village bookstore that features readings by popular authors.

Reviewed By cecilyjobe - Durham, United States

We were going to afternoon tea at Fearrington House and got there early to shop around. One stop was McInyre's Fine Books. Fearrington Village is (in my opinion) is a little posh, so I had in my mind that this area & the shops would be geared toward a certain type of patron (which I am not). Upon entering McIntyre's I was shocked by all the variety. My mom & I are in elementary education and I am a library science grad student so we ventured to the children's section first. I was blown away by the multicultural selection of books! Not just white faces on the covers, all colors :)

Fearrington Village

This former 18th-century farm is now an upscale complex including fine shops, a market, a luxury inn and a gourmet restaurant.

Reviewed By BSirles - Richmond, United States

Needed a getaway since the pandemic and the sadness of the loss of our dear and much loved 16-year old dog, so we needed a trip not too far from home that was an easy drive and we decided on Fearrington Village and Inn. Our room was nicely appointed with a garden view and the staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and staff wore masks and gloves. It was very hot weather, but we found shade in the gardens and they have a wonderful little cottage room for guests where you can read and relax. Breakfast was a real treat with lots of nice touches, like a smoothie, and homemade biscuits. Dinner was exceptional! Make sure you leave room for dessert. A nice touch was the gift of some house made peach preserves to take home. We will definitely go back, maybe in the Fall when it is cooler. Just what the doctor ordered!

Carolina Tiger Rescue

This is a refuge for tigers and other exotic cats.

Reviewed By BubblesLaRu - North Carolina, United States

Took our grandchildren in July. A bit too hot ( an elderly woman on our tour suffered heat stroke) be mindful of when you visit. We loved the experience. A mix of education from the guide and an up close look at the tigers in a natural habitat. The mission of this organization is commendable. Prices are a bit high. I understand it takes a lot to care for these rescued animals. We will go,back with the next set of grandchildren that visit.

Starrlight Mead

Call it mead or honey wine. At Starrlight Mead, we invite you to discover your new favorite drink. Maybe you’ve heard of mead from literature (Beowulf, Shakespeare, Harry Potter…) or maybe you remember it from your history books. Whatever you may already know, now is the perfect time to explore mead: wine made from honey. Refined, refreshing, and far from the sticky sweet you might expect, our award-winning meads will open up a whole new opportunity for you. Let us introduce you to honey wine varieties as engaging, diverse, and exceptional as you would find in the world of traditional wine made from grapes. Try our meads that span traditional tastes, similar to white wine, to fruit-infused choices like spiced apple and blackberry. Venture into our subtle herb-infused wines, seasonal favorites like our margarita-style “Honeyed Rita,” and special wines that highlight the variety of taste from honey.
