Handley Cellars is a small family-owned winery in California’s Mendocino County. Bonded in 1982, we produce around 12,000 cases of wine a year. Our quality starts with our Estate Vineyards in Anderson Valley. We are located at the northwest end of the Anderson Valley on 59 acres of the original Holmes Ranch. Still standing on the property are the now-refurbished ranch house, barn, and the original water tower. At Handley Cellars, we offer a wide variety of wines that complement today’s diverse cuisines. Winemaker Milla Handley seeks to make balanced wines that possess distinctive varietal characteristics, wines that reflect the soil and climate in which they were grown. Handley’s beautiful tasting room is located 6 miles northwest of Philo, California, on Highway 128. We offer tours by appointment, and our garden courtyard is open for picnics. Stop by to try our selections and, while visiting, enjoy our unique display of folk art collected from around the world.
The people at Greenwood Ridge Winery suggest we try tasting at Handley Cellars and we are glad they did. We tried several of their Pinot Noir wines as well as a white for no charge while talking to their friendly and knowledgeable staff. They really have a personal touch and we enjoyed it very much.

A great place to hike and camp among the Redwoods.
Gorgeous, peaceful walk among the redwoods off the path of the day use area. Would like to come back more prepared so I can walk the entire hike.

A concentration of high-quality wineries north of San Francisco.
We were lucky, this was a surprise for us and totally unexpected. We are not local and did not have a great guide book, but someone recommended this place. WOW, we had sunny skies and enjoyed the drive. We bought deli sandwiches in Boonville. We stopped along the way at the wineries. Good for photos and walking. I am not a wine afficionado, but we had great fun.

We stopped here to taste some beer and enjoyed setting outside to enjoy the venue. I enjoyed the flight we had onsite and we bought bottles to take home.
Lots of guests had their dogs and everyone seemed to be enjoying a place their dogs could come. Lots of parking. A gift shop.
Definitely easy place to find. Would go again.

My sister and I had put together a short list of wineries to visit in the Mendicino/Sonoma County area where we could have a relaxed and unpretentious wine-tasting experience. We definitely found it here. Not only that, our pourer, Mark, was more than familiar with our home state (Wisconsin), and we fell into conversation about everything from the Green Bay Packers to New Glarus Spotted Cow! We had a great time, tasted some great wine,(especially the Sauvignon Blanc), and were so happy with our trip to Navarro.

We had actually scheduled to stop here and tour the farm and cheese making process. Unfortunately, my husband hurt his foot, so instead we opted for a cheese and wine tasting on the patio. It was a nice day, and a relaxing time. Family owned and operated, the staff were friendly and informative. We had first had this farm's cheese at another winery and really loved the Bonnt Corners. We tried five from the tray, all served with good crackers and various accompaniments, almonds, guava paste... Our favorite remained the Boont Corners, although we enjoyed the Bollies Mollies and Velvet Sister as well. Wasn't impressed with the wines we tasted, but we really enjoyed our visit. Next time we are in the area, we'll try and meet the goats.

With an enticing view of vineyards and Redwood trees, Goldeneye Winery is a beautiful location to sample and savor some of Anderson Valley's most represented Pinot Noir wines. Our Visitor's Center features picnic facilities and an open-space area offering seated wine tasting experiences daily, both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting).
Have been visiting this winery for several years. Very disappointed today. Arrived and asked if we had reservations which we did not and have never needed. Told we could sit inside or a long uncomfortable table on the deck. There were 4 empty tables in the courtyard that all said reserved. The sad thing is two of the tables remained empty the entire time we were there. When we were leaving there were four empty tables. Basically we were ignored everyone around us was offered cheese except us. I would never consider joining there wine club when you can go to total wine and get most of the wine. I feel that for $30 for the two of us we were not treated nicely. Shame on them we used to love this winery.

A small family owned and operated winery and tasting room in Boonville, Anderson Valley specializing in Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir wines. Moderately priced and all estate fruit grown just down the road from the winery in the Charles Vineyard. You will taste with the winemaker, Joe or his wife/partner Kristy. Their Pinot Noirs range from light and fruity to big and bold...and are all delicious. There is a picnic area and wine is available for sale by the glass to enjoy with your lunch.

The owner - 3rd generation -- came out and congratulated my aunt who was celebrating here 106th Birthday. She even gave my aunt a bottle of their special reserve wine. Very nice touch and very classy too. Loved their Muscat!

Visiting fine craft galleries is one of my favorite things to do on trips. I visited many galleries in Mendocino County, including Mendocino and Fort Bragg, and this was my favorite one. They have a wonderful selection of handmade items and art. Most of the items were by local artists.
