If you aren't aware of the string of Robert Trent Jones (RTJ) courses across Alabama, you are simply missing out. Over a decade ago, Alabama undertook a course building project that vaulted them from the pack to the lead in golf destination states. Grand National is just one of their excellent sites that feature world class golf, excellent service and wonderful food & beverage. Some sites like this one are paired with excellent hotel accommodations as well. Grand National is a challenging course, be kind to yourself on tee box selection!

Salem-Shotwell Covered Bridge

My history nerd self couldnt pass the opportunity to visit this covered bridge. It is interesting that it is placed neared a super busy area with soccer fields and a private school right across it, plus the resdential area. For pictures, park in the sports field. It is only a 1 minute walk. It has graffiti inside, which breaks my heart, but overall the bridge is well-preserved and located over a natural, not man-made, creek which gives it its dignity back. It was a privilege to see this preserved piece. Kuwani's club (Kiwani? sp?) were responsible for this to happen. KUDOS

Red Clay Brewing Company

Reviewed By cgolliherve - Knoxville, United States

Really enjoyed the beer here. Had around 8 house beers on tap. Large projector screen was showing football games and a small patio outside to sit in. Only negative was it appeared that there were only 8 tables so had to stand, but overall not a big deal. Would definitely go back.
