Once it was known flowering nobility manor. Belonged not only to Belkins, but to the famous Russian aristocrats Dolgorukys, Vorontsovs, Buturlins (the first of these owners was the Director of the Hermitage) and even the Royal family of Godunovs. Here were the toffs of the intellectual and artistic elite of Russian society - Pushkin (as they say), Serov, Lancere, Levitan, Grabar, Chaliapin, Bryusov, Ivan Bunin, Polenov and others. However, what's left of it today, infuses only deep frustration and regret. The main building of the manor now consists only of the walls, being preserved only by miracle, no one ceiling has not survived. You possess the feeling that this Russian "Colosseum" is about to collapse. The Fund, tracking the restoration of the estate, obviously has not enough money to make it really– they just cleared the park, somehow refurbish two wings (of four) of the Boris and Gleb church (it was clearly getting most part of assignment), repainted it from pink to white in color and installed several sculptures. Now the estate is considered a distant suburb of Obninsk, the village across the pond now is one of the new Neighborhoods of the town.
Sad, unenviable fate.

This is probably the main attraction of Obninsk. Before the major one could be considered the world's first nuclear power station, which was built 4 years earlier. But its only reactor was muffled 15 years ago, and now only represents the object of excursions. But the mast stands and is still working. It is visible, of course, from almost any place in the town – it has more than 300 meters, and is the highest in Europe. It has 13 rings-balconies with the most modern equipment, the readings of which come into a one-story house at its foot.
Not in every town or city you can find something similar.

Very interesting museum with a wealth of information about the surrounding area. The section about Obninsk during the soviet period is particularly well thought out and thorough.

This temple has not almost any relation to the Obninsk. Between Obninsk and a temple there is about 20 miles and one more town, called Balabanovo. It is closer to Borovsk – Pafnutiev-Borovsky monastery, to which leads a straight road, is only 10 minutes of ride away. The temple is acting, but the restoration (after the Soviet era, when it was closed and used as a warehouse, and the German offensive, during which a direct hit of the shell demolished the top of the steeple) is not yet finished. The donations are accepted, there are announcements with a request to help in the final restoration of the church. Hope it will happen soon, because the temple is quite interesting. Moreover, on the day of our visit in the church there was quite a lot of people. Perhaps some of them came for the water, because both Springs near the church are well equipped and are famous for very clear water.

Underwater-ship memorial
The cabin this submarine, which has passed in the Arctic and on North pole, which has committed 8 long marches (although I read that they were 14) and visited even the Bay of Biscay, was sent for recycling to Obninsk, where it was installed as a monument in Victory street, near Kurchatov street, one of the biggest in the city. The approach to it is through the alley between the parked cars on both sides. Formally, it had no direct relationship to the town, however, the contribution of the residents of Obninsk, one of the centers of nuclear research in the Soviet Union was undoubtful. On the cabin there are two tablets with the name of the commander and enumeration of the the "merits" of the submarine. And rear, on the pedestal bevel, is embossed "Pioneer of the nuclear Navy". Opposite the cabin is a bust of the Admiral Osipenko, first commander of the first nuclear submarine K-3 "Leninsky Komsomol".

Спортзал в одной части комплекса, а работающая душевая - в другой. Ну как же так, к чему этот трансфер?
В остальном все ок, современненько :)

Church of Christ's birth
Obninsk is a fairly large town in the Kaluga region. Its population is more than 100 thousand people. But at the end of the last century there were only two temples in the entire town. So soon the diocese and the parishioners started fundraising and construction of this brick temple. The money of the diocese went to the temple, the money of the laity for the creation of Sunday school and religious education center next to it. The temple was a large and rather standard. It is quadrangular one-domed church, surrounded with galleries, with a belfry on the reverse of the Engels street and the shopping centre called "YES!" ("YES!") side. That it's newly built, you'll feel immediately. And this is somehow unusual, because in the Kaluga region the vast majority of temples were destroyed, and they are only gradually restored.
