A fantastic museum - rooms were well laid out and conveyed a lot of information about the history of the castle without being overwhelming. The prison floor was particularly fascinating. The views over the lake were fantastic. A bargain visit as well - for 8CHF, you can get a ticket that gives entry to this, the Roman Museum and the Lake Museum. I would put this at the top of the itinerary for any visit to Nyon.

Want sure what to expect at this museum and was pleasantly surprised with a wide variety of great displays and pieces of history. There are several doors that include some fish tanks, old boats, historical boating objects, classic postcards, etc. This was well worth the time and the walk down the hill. For an eight Euro ticket (adult), you get admission here, and at the chateau and Roman Museum.

A dreamlike space is set in the meadow with colourful tents, stalls and bars. Paleo has become Switzerland’s largest open-air festival with it’s roots in the 1970s and folk as the main focus. Nowadays it has to offer different kinds of international music performers, more than 250 Concerts and shows, art installations and ferry-wheels. It’s been famous for being sold out long before it starts so book in advance.
The Paleo Festival is very popular every year at the same time ! They are very well organised we live very near the Festival so we get "Laisser passer" to get through to our house. Most of the tickets are sold out long before the Festival but they always keep tickets to sell the same day ! The Bands are world famous and everything is handled very professionally ! It is nice to go and walk around and eat something !

There are days when the little boutique in Nyon is as cramped with connoisseurs wanting to buy Alexander Paul's amazing pure cocoa butter creations as is the case at the other great chocolate shop in Bougy-Villars. And it’s understandable, because Alexander's talents closely match those of the very best. You won't be disappointed, although it must be said; fabulous chocolate has its price.

The ancient Roman columns are situated in a park with Lake views all the way to Geneva. Awe inspiring and timeless.

Nyon was a Roman town formed by Caesar in around 50 BC. Almost every building site in the old town uncovers Roman artifacts which are then stored in the Musee Romain. Although the museum is underground (because it is at the level of the original town) even the children find it interesting. It is not a "must do" but worth the effort if you are exploring things to do. Nyon has many charming lanes and walkways so it is well worth exploring some of these which can be found around the museum.
