Whilst we are NT Members and visited for free, I'm conscious that it is quite pricey for non-members (currently £13.00 per adult/ £38.00 per family for house and gardens). It is however, well worth the price if you make a full day of it! Extensive gardens, unique hydro-electric power system, remarkable house, great childrens play areas and a delightful 5-6 mile drive all within the site with numerous stop-off points to enjoy walks, picnic areas and lakeside views. The cafe/restaurant is not cheap but the food we had was delicious. Note that the House is not open every day - check out the national Trust for details and restrictions, especially during gthe Winter months. To fully appreciate the intriguing story of Lord Armstrong (the previous owner of the property), a visit to Bambough castle (not National Trust) is also highly recommended, and we found it really enjoyable and fascinating.

Artist run Gallery, featuring landscape paintings by owner Lynda Taylor. The gallery also stocks fine quality work created by fellow artist makers as well as prints, homewares, jewellery and cards printed with Lynda Taylor designs. Accessible by wheelchair (using the gallery's portable ramp.)
This gallery is a must visit when visiting Rothbury! Linda’s art quintessentially captures the sweep and beauty of the Northumberland countryside. After driving through this lovely area, her art is the perfect purchase for bringing home mementos from your trip. Choose from stunning, full scale landscapes to simpler, more whimsical pieces. Ask about her husband’s pottery studio, PottedHistory, which is close by as well. Cheerio!

What a serene and 'magical' place. The tranquil well is sited in a remote rural location and is well worth visiting. The water is clear and pure and the whole place is steeped in ancient history. There is also a really interesting statue on the site that was transported from Alnwick. One can park a five minute walk from the well site and there are lovely woodland walks too in the vicinity.

Fontburn Reservoir has a stunning walk circling the water with spacious picnic areas where you can spot an abundance of wildlife and wild flowers. There is a fun playground and visitor centre for refreshments and ice cream. Fontburn is also a family friendly fishery offering top class bait and fly fishing to anglers, with access for disabled anglers. The visitor center offers fishing accessories.
Absolutely love this place, my all time favourite to fish for trout, very relaxing and beautiful scenery, very friendly and helpful staff too. Come every so often ????

A small friendly micro pub serving not just local handpull ales but wines, ciders and spirits including over 40 gins, set in the heart of Rothbury Northumberland.
Unassuming from the outside, this pub has filled a shop in the town, and it’s fantastic. Always good ale on tap, and a selection of other pints, everybody will find something to drink here! A warm welcome to regulars and visitors, good dogs welcome, and because it’s run independently, the cost of a round won’t raise an eyebrow!!
