River Trail Nature Center

Reviewed By cheryltE8852CW

My granddaughter and I were done with remote learning for the day and needed an excursion. I knew of River Trail Nature Center as I had been there years before when my own kids were little. I knew the indoors would be closed, but remembered the outside cages. We saw a bald eagle, coyote, owl and hawk. We also saw tons of birds and squirrels around the bird feeders. She was very excited to see these animals up close. After looking at all the animals, we walked down by the river and saw Canada geese in the distance. We threw snowballs into the river and watched them float downstream. Ryan, who was working there that day, was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. My granddaughter was excited to get a brown bag with little goodies in it along with a calendar. The visit made a gloomy day very pleasant. We'll certainly make the trip again. Thank you Cook County Forest Preserve.

As small, local historical Societys go this one is excellent . Set in a transplanted Inn and with a dedicated group of volunteers the Inn is open on both floors and has a small consignment shop filled with treasures. A couple of books on the area are available for sale, The Fabric of Our Lives details the founding fathers and growth from a small, largely German farming community to an upscale suburb of Chicago.

Catch and release fishing at man-made Lake Shermerville Three-loop walk/jog/run path: main green loop .85 mile; west red loop .17 mile; and east blue loop .22 mile Fun Fact: sledding hill, thickly planted with tall, mature trees, was built back in the day with clay hauled from the building site of Northbrook Court. two wood-chip-surface playgrounds and a sand box several picnic areas with tables, plenty of trash and recycling cans, and grills ample sports fields plenty of benches thanks to the park district's tree and bench donation program tennis courts. park abuts Interstate 294, so sometimes it's a matter of traffic noise vs. bird songs. Fans and lights in restrooms turn on automatically when anyone enters. Enjoy this wonderful park and try not to envy the homeowners on the opposite shore of Lake Shermerville.

I work in a physically demanding job and given my age I was almost unable to work until I started regular massage sessions with Janusz who has literally saved my life. Jessica is also excellent and has done very helpful stretches for me, and she has also treated my elderly mother perfectly. All the staff at this wonderful newly decorated location have been great to work with and the benefits to membership are totally worth it. Highly recommend!

AMC Theatres

Reviewed By Allen21096 - Chicago, United States

We came to AMC Northbook Court 14 for a specific movie, "Red Sparrow", that had pretty much finished its run and was nowhere else to be found in our area. As the AMC Northbrook Court 14 is part of the Northbrook Court shopping mall, there is plenty of parking and very easy access in to and back on to Lake Cook Rd. The theatre is located on the backside of the mall from Lake Cook Rd. There is an entrance from the mall, as well as an entrance from the outside. The restrooms are clean and well-kept. When you walk-in, you choose your seating, as the auditoriums are stadium seating with power reclining seating. Each seat in auditorium 10, also had a swinging table, which did make for an easy place to keep drinks or other refreshments. The concession stand was well-staffed and there is a dine-in option at this theatre, as well as a MacGuffins bar. There are two levels and on the second level there is an area for butter, as well as a CocaCola Freestyle machine, so you didn't have to go back down to the concession stand. There is an elevator available. We always use the Stubs card, so it does reduce the price a bit.
