The Highground started as the Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans Memorial Project in 1984. It has grown to a 155-acre park whose mission is to Honor, Educate and Heal our Veterans, families and all who visit. The Park includes over a dozen tributes, a museum, a gift shop, four miles of hiking trails and Camp Victory, a 295-acre camp located 18 miles north of the main campus. The private facility, which receives no ongoing federal or state funding, is supported by private donations and grants. The Park is free to the public and open 24/7/365. The Gift Shop and Museum are open daily from 10-5 (winter: 10-4). W7031 Ridge Rd, Neillsville WI 54456.
The statue tributes. Allow at least 1 hour to walk the pristine grounds covering 155 acres, read inscriptions, respect and pay tribute to those that gave their lives, honors survivors, their service and sacrifices. No fees, operates from contributions and with volunteers. I will return. A must see for all ages to appreciate our freedom.

My dad and I enjoyed a 4.5 mile hike through the various trails of Lewis Mound Trail complex. The trails are marked extremely well - never had a challenge knowing where we were at. We hiked multiple interconnecting trails to include Lower Glen, Upper Glen, Porky Point, Northface, and Cliffhanger. The trailhead has nice bathroom facilities, as well as a bike repair station. There were multiple mountain bikers using the trails, but everyone was courteous and didn't cause issue with the hikers. The views was worth the 50-minute drive from Marshfield. I look forward to hiking here next year with my wife.
