Described as "the most beautiful track in America", Arlington began Thoroughbred racing on October 13, 1927, when more than 20,000 fans braved the cold weather to celebrate the event in high style. Since then, Arlington International has become a social destination and perfect summer hangout to watch and wager on the amazing sport of Thoroughbred horse racing! Arlington offers beautiful venues for everything from corporate outings to reunions to weddings, and it's the ideal spot for groups of friends to catch-up, watch the ponies and meet new people. From Miller Lite Party in the Park on Friday, to Miller Lite Horses & Hops on Saturdays, to Sunday Family Days presented by Daily Herald and Lipton Iced Tea, it's always a great time!
It seems like there aren’t many tracks left in the country. This is one of the classics. Totally destroyed and rebuilt, and now their racing season is a festive highlight of summer capped off by the Arlington Million. It has excellent banquet facilities, a beautiful clubhouse and great food.

A bright and friendly place for children of all ages, featuring a life-sized train car and a water room.
My 8 year old was bored with this museum but my 6 year old stayed busy. But both got bored after about 2 hours. All staff very interacting and interested in ensuring the kids were being entertained. Very crowded when I went. I don't know if we will be back though. But if my children were under 5 I think I would return.

The greater Chicago area has many "Forest Preserves." This one is readily accessible to highways and major roads and on a rainy, dreary, November day was a great spot of fall foliage. The drive through the park passes several parking lots and rest areas. There were picnic tables throughout. What a resource for people nearby. We would come back if in the area again.

Ever dream of flying? Now you can at iFLY Indoor Skydiving in Rosemont. Experience the thrill of skydiving without having to jump from a perfectly good airplane - no falling, no parachutes, just you floating on a smooth cushion of air with our professional instructor right next to you. No special skills are needed, just a sense of adventure. iFLY is safe for kids 3 and up, fun for the entire family, and perfect for birthday parties or groups. iFLY is the experience of a lifetime.
Well oiled machine! People all VERY friendly! Entire experience from time you enter the door to exiting is 1 hour. Pricey, but totally worth it! Give yourself extra time to get there. Coming from the north, it was not easy finding the parking lot in front of iFLY. Our instructor was fantastic - friendly, knowledgeable, entertaining, etc..!! My 10 year old and 13 year old daughters LOVED it (& made the extra $9.95 for the high fly worth it). We had a (just turned) 5 year old and older, "less athletic" people in our group and each one looked to have an equally fun time! HIGHLY recommend!!

Always a favorite place to unwind. They have some cool animals and some wonderful trails for walking. Situate long the bank of the Des Plaines river you can sit, watch and listen to the many birds. They usually have some great programs. Good to take your kids or scouts to teach them about nature. I think they still have their maple syrup fest where you can sample syrup from their own trees. If you are driving nearby this is a good place to unwind. Watch for the deer for a special treat or listen for the owls.

I'm not sure why we didn't really think of it, but we decided to go to the theater on the day that "Boss Baby" opened. Even though we were taking two of my grandkids who were on spring break, I completely zoned out about the fact that other kids were out. It was crowded. The staff was efficient. The food (popcorn & pop) were good. The prices are a little high, but you can soften the blow if you are an AMC Stubs member. The movie was funny and the kids - all four, ranging from 19 months to 10 years, all loved it.

Metropolis Performing Arts Centre is a live entertainment and arts education facility located in downtown Arlington Heights, Ill. and has quickly become one of Chicagoland’s leading venues for quality programming. The complex is home to a 350 seat theater. Metropolis offers a diverse array of Chicago’s most talented performers and performance troupes, as well as national acts spanning virtually all performance genres – all under one roof.
Metropolis is a great little theater in Arlington Hts. They offer such a variety of experiences, music, comedy, and of course plays. Through the years I've attended many of these shows and have never been disappointed. There are no bad seats and only great entertainment. There is something for everyone and at a reasonable price.

Surround yourself with fashion, food, and fun with the most distinctive collection of shopping, dining and entertainment. Woodfield has the finest collection of department stores and specialty shops in the Great Lakes region including Nordstrom, Macy's, Lord & Taylor, jcpenney, Sears and nearly 300 stores and restaurants.
Woodfield Mall is working hard to lure customers away from their internet shopping and back into the mall.
Check out the women's lounge near the Cheesecake Factory. It is done in sophisticated black and white. It has some very nice we-care-about-our-customers touches. There are comfortable couches at the entrance You will find a large shelf against the back wall of every stall, where you can safely place your purse and packages. There are sit-down vanity tables with three-way mirrors.
I found a charging station for my phone and you can borrow a cable from customer service.
There's a bitcoin ATM, free wi-fi, and that giant mall centerpiece -- Garrett's popcorn.
The most exciting news is the food court opening this summer in the upper level Sears wing. The first tenants to be announced are Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Charleys Philly Steaks, Maoz Falafel and Grill, Suki Hana, and Wok A Holic.
There's no Garrett's Popcorn or Maoz falafel at my computer....so Woodfield, here I come.

The Grove has a quaint indoor animal sanctuary with snakes, turtles, birds, fish etc. All of of varying heights but they have step stools for ease of viewing by smaller children. Most of the area encompasses trails, and has a few different viewing area of historical buildings and materials. It's a lot of walking so bring your sneakers. We had the wonderful chance of seeing a deer feeding roadside within 5-10' of us. He wasn't startled and adorably allowed us to take his picture! This is a great nature hike, even for younger children.

We brought my oldest grandson to The Ballpark in Mount Prospect to work on his batting skills for the baseball season. They offer several different configurations of batting cages and for simple batting practice with your star child or grandchild, you can work with them through buckets of balls from machines that can be set for different speeds. They offer clinics on a regular basis, as well as specials via e-mail. The staff was excellent and is always helpful and attentive to the needs of the kids, pre-teens, teens & adults practicing. We enrolled my oldest grandson in some private lessons and his coach Ron Cacini, was very helpful to his batting skills.
