What a surprise, didn't think the cross would be so big! A short easy walk that's surrounded by lovely gardens and a lookout, this venue has plenty of parking and toilets. It's a beautiful reminder for our WWI heroes, I can only imagine how spectacular it would be to be there during Anzac Day.

What a beautiful place to visit. Well maintained gardens complemented by clean facilities. A good map is provided within the $10 (cash or card) entry fee. The site is divided into various vegetation areas, each with fountains, statues etc together with a Japanese garden and museum. Only feature lacking is an on-site venue to purchase snacks etc

Gardens of Tieve Tara

TEMPORARILY CLOSED - We will be re-opening in Autumn 2020. Nestled on the eucalypt clad slopes of Mt Macedon is a truly remarkable oasis of beauty. Undulating across 7.5 acres of sweeping lawns, lakes and trees, with vibrant seasonal colours. Chooks, geese and ducks roam free around these magnificent grounds, which are suitable for young and old alike. Bring a picnic and meet with friends, or enjoy the peaceful ambience under a tree with a good book. While wandering the gardens you can watch the birds frolic around two lakes; one arched by a Monet style bridge, and the other ladened with water lilies. Wander through the stunning perennial walk, sit down under the romantic rose arbour, discover a variety of beautiful flowers or explore ‘Treasure Island’, where a cubby house, slide and sand pit sit among a fern glade. We look forward to welcoming you into our beautiful garden.

What a wonderful walk. Such beauty. Well thought out and cared for. Well worth it. The cockatoo head spin at the end was the cherry on the top of a great morning.

Sanatorium Lake

Reviewed By 862yelenad - Melbourne, Australia

A little piece of history and a great place to walk - it is a Sanatorium Lake. It is a man-made pond full of drinking water surrounded with a forest. Firstly it was made as a source of water for tuberculous sanatorium, but clinic closed for a long time ago and this pond become a small wild lake. It keeps water for birds and animals and enriches this area. Very quiet place - you also can have a picnic there, there are some picnic tables near the lake.
