My son-in-law comes to Florida every year and the highlight of his trip is seeing Gators. This place has plenty of those! The best part for him and his little son was being able to feed them. You can buy two bags of alligator food (it looks like grilling charcoal) that you can toss to them. They had a ball watching the alligators and crocs dive and scramble for the food.

Admission is around $15 for adults and for another $8 you can see three "shows". We chose not to do this. There is one show for free where a staff member feeds the gators chicken parts and you can watch them jump out of the water for that.

This place could be a much nicer spot if a little money was spent fixing it up. Some paint on the front, a decent place to have lunch (we brought our own--they only serve snacks) and bathrooms that aren't so old and kind of primitive.

There are a few other animals to look at. The goats were fun and the donkey was entertaining. It's dirt walking all around that area which meant that little ones were tripping and getting dirty.

Our son-in-law had fun so he would probably come back.

We took our family out on a morning excursion (private tour) with Captain Cookie and Steve and had a wonderful time. Both Captain Cookie and Steve shared their abundant knowledge of the area and were sure to stop at several locations to allow our three kids to get closer looks at alligators, all sorts of fish, osprey, and different types of trees and flowers. What a beautiful place! And to top it all off, we came back to home base to enough home-cooked BBQ to feed an army. Very laid back and easy going, and well paced for a family!

First off, this was our 2nd time canoeing F.E. Creek. The first trip, we launched from the base camp. Plenty of people enjoying the creek, but still quite tranquil (except for several idiots--some adults, mostly teenagers--navigating recklessly in their motorboats). Aside from that, we had a WONDERFUL experience--plenty of cypress trees, birds, turtles, and a small gator or two. We couldn't wait to return again soon!

Second trip, we opted for the shuttle to drop us off at the 6 mile marker. An office person told us they personally took this trip recently and that it was a “pleasant and easy 3+ hour ride” back to the camp--so off we went! The shuttle driver was very informative. He let us know when we arrived at the drop-off that "you're gonna see a lot of gators today". Well, I have seen plenty of gators in my life here--mostly from Jon boats though--and I must say this trip rattled us. The creek is infested--we must’ve seen well over 50+ gators! Problem with this is the creek has numerous narrow and shallow bends and passages—not exactly safe for the average Joe Blow & family on a trip from Nebraska. Not to mention, several large gators approached our canoe (instead of going underwater or just staying clear of us) as if they were accustomed to being fed. Luck should have it that one of these planted itself right in our canoe’s path—what a collision! Nearly lost a paddle (and my wife!) when trying to paddle past the gator.

Long story short, I can deal with the fact that there are gators (because I am a Floridian), but what I do expect is that the office staff be better informed of the status of the water level and gator count and behavior (trouble gators), and, communicate that info to their clients BEFORE they rent a canoe or kayak. As any reasonable person can imagine, the last thing you need is someone to freak out while on the water. Lastly, get rid of the tree rope—too many gators nearby for that kind of activity. Not saying I won’t go there again (because I really liked the place), but please be more considerate the non-“Crocodile Dundee” crowd—even if it costs you a customer or two.

Hunt with my son for the first time. It was great hunt, fun and interesting. Problem is my son shot a beautiful hog that we sent to mount. Bret took my $250 deposit and said it would take 6-8 months, after several calls to see how long it would take, sherry first said would take 6-8 months, then when the 8 month hit she started claiming 9-10 months. Now that am on my 10 months she says it was never said that it would take 9-10 months but 12-18 months. Which is a bull face lie. She her self has told me me 8-10. Now after several phone calls, emails and voice mails left they are ignoring me altogether. Shame that a good ranch for hunting has such liar manning their phones. Instead of Chappys should be called Crappys.

Surprisingly NOT scary overall, just exhilarating and SO FUN! Thanks for offering a Groupon, too….now I wish I'd bought a second jump the same day. My friends think I'm a 62 year old rock star chick now.

Visited the Cane Grinding Festival, primarily to see some local cloggers. Very interesting booths set up with local history and foods available. Tried some of the freshly ground cane juice and liked it. The various groups of cloggers were terrific and we really enjoyed them. Took a walk all around the park and onto some trails that led to one of the Indian Mounds. Great place to see wildlife. Beautiful old large live oak trees with extensive branches under which we sat to watch the cloggers and musical groups. Great afternoon in Ortona.

Amazing experience! Have always been afraid to skydive and saw this as great alternative. And it is!! From first phone call, service was top notch. Angie was very professional and set us up with only 1 days notice. Upon arrival, rest of staff was very enthusiastic and helpful. After an introductory video, we were offered upgrades of time over the basic 1000' flight, and video options. We took the 2000' option which was well worth it. Doubled the time in air and gave us a view above the soaring birds. Our pilot was very nice and gave us the maximum experience along with new knowledge of how the gliders work and even let us take control for a few seconds. I highly recommend this as a bucket list experience! Worth the drive from either coast. You will be talking about it for a long time!

Interesting tour. The highlight for me was the viewing of the sugar cane harvesting, which takes place from October to March. Some fields are burned from day to day after appropriate permission is obtained from the regulating agency. Not all the sugar cane fields, therefore, are burned simultaneously. Sugar is a grass. It is about the most efficient plant for converting sunlight and carbon dioxide into sucrose, provided other nutrients are present in the soil.

There was also a viewing from the bus of oranges being processed.

A worthwhile and informative tour.

A pleasant surprise was this attraction featuring local history and artifacts from the surrounding areas. Fossils, photos and Native American memorabilia are prominently displayed. There's a gift shop.
The best part was when the curator came out to give a detailed explanation of the exhibit and general history of the state and this locale in particular. Clearly he was knowledgeable and loves his job
The day was part of a larger experience sponsored to promote Big Sugar. The overall experience was that this is a well organized professional endeavor to give the industry a better image. The bus tour, lunch at an area country club and museum were part of a free all day tour
