Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Tours & Tastings

We brewed our first batch of beer in 1980 in Chico, California, the lush forests of North Carolina far from our mind. Over three decades, folks tried our bold beers and deemed them fit for friends across the country. In time a second brewery became the wisest, most sustainable way to send fresh beer to the farthest reaches. Today you can venture inside our Mills River brewery to trace our history as a craft beer pioneer and see first-hand our drive to make flavorful beer the status quo. Cruise up our wooded driveway, park under a solar-panel canopy, and head behind the scenes with us. Our tours fill up quickly! You must make reservations online for all tours except the Guided Tasting and the self-guided Visitor Corridor. Click below to check availability and book your tour. Please feel free to contact our Tour Desk before your visit if you have any questions about our tour programs or policies.

I was able to take my husband on the Beer Geek Tour at Sierra Nevada - a 3 hour behind the scenes tour that included many samples and a great explanation of the Sierra Nevada experience and history. We already enjoyed the beer, but seeing the brewery, including the workers walking around, really added a connection. The tour was not expensive, especially compared to similar experiences at other breweries, and it was worth every penny! The Beer Geek Tour is a maximum of 6 guests, so we never felt rushed or questions weren't answered. Our tour guide, Julia, was awesome and was very friendly and patient with us as we walked around the brewery. I had injured myself 2 days before and she never made me felt like I was holding the group back. We can't wait to come back to Sierra Nevada and try another tour or even more of the beers! And be sure to go to the restaurant afterwards - the food there is incredible!

Saddle up trail rides

We searched for a place to do a trail ride before travelling and decided on Saddle Up because of the access to Pisgah National Forest - After traversing the road in - we were greeted by Michael and his partner and treated to a lovely, peaceful ride suited to our abilities- The horses were great, scenery beautiful, and just right for myself and my 11 year old daughter who have rode before- just on trail rides and my friend who had never done this before. Reasonably priced and very knowledgeable guide. A great experience!

I love this hidden gem! It’s definitely off the beaten path but definitely worth checking this place out. Seriously! It’s small from the outside, but surprisingly spacious and filled with treasures. Super friendly owner. Very fair prices. Well organized. Clean. It has almost everything from China to furniture to tools to clothes to art. I could go on! We wound up leaving with a beautiful Griswold cast iron skillet, WW2 American flag in good shape and brass pineapple candle holder. Definitely recommend and will be returning.

Great food; smoked wings, waffle fries, awesome burgers and crazy fried chicken sandwich. The ciders are amazing; pineapple seasonal (I hope they make it year round and in a can for the lake), classic Apple is very simple yet never tasted anything like it, great taste. VERY REFRESHING CIDERS!!! The view is awesome, kid friendly and large outdoor space for them to roam around! Air conditioned seating inside and spacious seating at picnic tables outside! Great views of the surrounding hills. Wait staff were ALL practicing "Social Distancing" and wore masks!

I had an amazing time here, all the employees were very polite and knowledgeable about the snakes and other reptilians, the animals all looked well fed and cared for, the owner even informed me on how to take care of a snake and what a good first pet snake is, there were tons of variety's of snake venomous and not, the owner let me hold many non venomous snakes including the two headed corn snake, I cant wait to come back and will definitely recommend it to friends.
