This gallery and studio is award-winning artist Jeff Ripple's primary working and exhibition space. Here you will see his finished oil paintings of the Old Florida landscape, paintings in progress as well as studies and preliminary drawings. You'll also find a wide selection of his breathtaking large format camera landscape photographs in sizes and prices for all budgets. In season, the area in front of the gallery is a gorgeous garden comprised of native Florida plants designed to attract and feed hummingbirds, butterflies, bees and other pollinating insects. You'll see plenty of lizards, birds and if you look closely, caterpillars (butterflies need to come from somewhere) and grasshoppers. You are welcome to photograph the garden when the gallery is open.

Nature area with woods and swamp as well as an information center describing the wildlife in the area.
I had wanted to visit this location for a while, so when my family was vacationing in Ocala, I recommended going. This is an amazing state park with breathtaking prairie views reminiscent of the west. We saw white-tailed deer, wild horses, green & brown anole lizards, a ribbon snake, spiders, many species of plants and a variety of unusual and beautiful fungi and lichens. The indoor visitor center was nice and had informative displays. The picnic area where we ate, overlooks a beautiful expansive lake. Unfortunately I did not get to see most of the park due to my other family members having little interest in hiking or nature, but I definitely plan on returning. My only complaint was that although masks were mandatory inside the visitor center, they were not required on any of the outdoor trails or other areas, so we had to constantly avoid maskless families and other groups of ignorant individuals, at one point having a large mask less family try and all squeeze past us with no social distancing while we were attempting to climb down the steps of the observation tower. This is a State Park, so I don't know why they were not being more strict on mask requirements. Regardless, I was not going to let these fools ruin my experience.

Wonderful free museum depicting the world in Micanopy from founding to mid 20th century. Opportunity to touch the tools and implements used by settlers and towns folk during the early years of Micanopy. Also tells the story of how the indians were treated (mistreated) and how Micanopy came before Gainesville. Good for adults and children alike.

Micanopy is Old Florida at its best, a sweet Southern town popular for its antiques shops, outdoor cafes, elegant b&b and organic bakery. Micanopy is a charming slice of small town Florida at it's best. The vibrant historic district is made up of small, independently owned shops, galleries and cafes right in the heart of rural north central Florida, 10 miles south of Gainesville
This town has so much history. Seminole country. John Anderson mentioned this town in his song Seminole wind. Nice little eateries & shops. Worth seeing.
