We always love stopping at Carr Valley. I love that they have samples out so you can try before you buy!

Sandy beach is very nice. Shower buildings are clean and well maintained, although the showers are pay. Playground nice and loved by kids. Park personnel are friendly and you can actually talk to them as they are on site, not like the State Parks which are desserted by the DNR due to Covid19 paranoia. They have a 9 hole disc golf range there which is not shown on their maps!? Campsites are varied, some are close together, others are better spaced. The vault toilets are clean also, and even smell ok! Lots of campsites, many are electric; many are rented seasonally, so you see decks and lots of add-ons to RVs. Nothing there for hiking or biking unfortunately, activities center on the beach or the boat launch, as Castle Rock flowage is a large body of water. We visited the park twice this year, mid June and late September, primarily because it is about twelve miles from the Elroy-Sparta, "400", and Omaha bike trails which we love. Camping prices are very reasonable, $17 per night which includes one vehicle admission.

Sandy Shores Tubing offers a 3 mile river tubing adventure on the Wisconsin River. This section of river is secluded, lined with mature oaks and maples, sandy river bottom and secluded beaches. Keep your eyes open as you have a chance to spot the majestic Eagles and numerous other animals along the way. The float averages 2 1/2 hours if you float straight through. If you stop to enjoy the river, sun, and sandy beaches, you could make a day of it if you choose to. Our tubes are custom made. They have a can holder and also quick links to keep your group together. For the little river rats, we have tubes with a bottom and a backrest. As required by law, we provide everyone with a life vest, but you are more than welcome to bring your own. Our family owned business would be happy to help you plan your next river tubing adventure with us.

We booked online, easy to do. Had an enjoyable time. We were greeting in a friendly manner by owner Lyle (who drove the team of horses). Answered our silly questions. Since we did a sleigh ride and were the last ride of the day, we could bring along adult beverages and shared with Lyle. Red Ridge Ranch is 30 minutes from Christmas Mnt Village - easy on and off interstate. We were the 2nd sleigh ride of the season January 2020. Fed the horses, fun. Our sleigh was driven by Trump & Dolly, Clydesdales. They did a good job. Pleasant time. Thanks -- We visited this same ranch and rode trail horses when our child was only 9 or 10. We had a great time then too. The facilities is a "working" ranch. Nothing fancy, but nice. Enjoy your time there. We did.
