Welcome to Trapd Matamata! Trapd Escape Rooms are a family run business with our sole aim of ensuring that everyone has fun while visiting Matamata. A chance find while visiting Matamata to go to Hobbiton. As we were the only ones there, we were kindly allowed to start our escape room as soon as we walked in the door (rather than having to book a specific time) and given the comfort to know we could take as long as we we needed. 2 adults and an 18 and 20y old elected for the Secret Saloon. The room's kit out was very impressive and authentic with integrated mechanics. We just made it out in 60mins without clues! Loved it so much, went immediately into the Airforced room - super impressive props in here. A slow start and a single clue led us to escape in 40mins. This one not as varied and exciting as the Saloon but still lots of fun.

VISIT: end of February 2020 COMPANY: Auckland Scenic Tours COMMUNCIATION WITH COMPANY: 5 stars TOUR GUIDE/DRIVER: 5 stars WORTHY OF VISITING: more than 5 stars Hobbiton is heavily advertised and when I kept seeing it come up during my research, I thought, sure that looks pretty sweet. But, I was not prepared for how absolutely impressive this would be! From the pain-staking detail of each home, nook and cranny and the world-renowned gardens, this was another unforgettable tour that we did in New Zealand that I highly recommend people see. Words just can never do this place justice, please see my photos of this incredible place! LORD OF THE RINGS: a high percentage of people that visit here are actually not even lord of the rings fans or never saw the movies and it still has that much awe and beauty FOOD/SNACKS: our tour included a drink and there is a coffee shop and gift shop at the beginning of the tour PHOTOS: be prepared to take photos the entire time and be ready for video and photos as you have to keep moving with your group
