So the trip there - we used Steve's taxis, last minute. Got us there and gave us drinks, not the most comfortable of drives but worth it for the destination.
Beach is picture perfect. Windy and no shade. Take plenty of sunscreen. We went for half day trip which was long enough.
The snorkelling there was amazing. Rays, fish and not dangerously deep. Enjoy!

Elphinstone Reef

Reviewed By Simon_Ilett - Sydney

I have very mixed feelings for Elphinstone reef. It's magically beautiful, almost Pristine.
It is basically a large spine of rock rising out of the deep. Sheer walls on both sides East and West with lots of healthy corals.
South you have a shallow plateau and north you have the deeper plateau. I have dived all of these.
On the South, Oceanic White tips and Turtles.
North we got schooling Hammer Heads
East side, long nosed hawk fish.
WEST side we got current :)
It is a great dive site that you need to see!
But it does get busy. Honestly we were there with 7 other liveaboards and it is a small spine. Divers do get clambered up and there is a lot of noise in the water.
If you are unlucky enough to be there while the French boats are you just have to do your best to avoid their divers.
You'll see whole groups below you at 45 metres wondering how they doing that on their computers. Then you realise they don't have any.
That is about the time they will start clambering up the walls kicking everything in their way.
Was probably the most frustrating dives I have ever done watching the French literally break every rule in the book when it comes to being a safe and environmentally friendly diver.
But in the end, some good diving here, don't miss it!

Oh wow! I swam with dolphins!! Fabulous. Long journey but well worth it. Couple things.... take money for tips.. and at the marina there are children selling jewellery etc.
Whilst snorkeling you are pulled in and out of the zodiac boat. It is quite painful! Listen to how to do it properly otherwise it hurts!
Staff on boat were brilliant!!! Well worth doing!!

Got on a boat that took us to a beautiful coral reef and then to swim with the turtles. The sea at that particular day was rough so they gave whoever wanted medication for sea sickness. Other than that it was an excellent experience well worth the money.

Marsa Shoona Bay

Reviewed By Rick G - Whitley Bay, England, United Kingdom

The reefs at Marsa Shoona are amazing, absolutely teeming with life and absent any tricky currents. We did 2 days diving here in one holiday, and saw such a huge range of stuff we could have kept coming back. Multiple octopus on each dive, loads of pipefish, scorpions, coral gobies, crocodilefish, clownfish, lionfish, morays, and even turtles. Some stunning coral formations too, well worth a visit.

Aqua Coraya

AquaCoraya recently open in March 09, located in Madinat Coraya, 67 km from Marsa Alam city, 5 km from Marsa alam international airport, offers wonderful, healthy fun for all age-groups, with slides up to 10 meters height. The only Aqua Park near to Marsa Alam in the coast line. The water slides are flooding out of the walls taking you to the world of excitement and fun.

Reviewed By Mike W - Isle of Wight, United Kingdom

We tried this for a few hours. Great fun but the slides vary enormously and its very easy to get hurt on some. Water is heated and good facilities. 2 slides were shut when we were there. The 3 highest slides are very fast with steep drops. We both suffered blows to head or shoulders on these and sadly wouldn't use again as just too dangerous. The others were fine. Probably wouldn't bother visiting again but fun as a single trip
