Manistique, formerly Monistique, is the only incorporated city in and the county seat of Schoolcraft County of the U.S. state of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 3,097. The city lies on the north shore of Lake Michigan, adjacent the southwest corner of Manistique Township. Manistique was founded where the Manistique River flows into Lake Michigan, forming a kind of natural harbor, which has since been improved with breakwaters, dredging, and a lighthouse. The city takes its name from the Manistique River. The economy also depends heavily on tourism.

We came here in rough weather, but were not disappointed. The boat you take out is on a cable and you turn a wheel to take yourself out and back in. The visibility is about 40 feet down and it's beautiful. The entire area is beautiful! We were so glad someone recommended this to us, it's one of our favorites. There are huge trout in here to see, and it's like a glimpse into another world. One where the fish are not bothered by the wind and rain going on above.

It was an easy walk on a calm day out to the lighthouse. This lighthouse is not accessible to the public, but we walked right up to it on the break wall.

Located on the Harbor in Manistique, MI. Sample exceptional wines and beers while enjoying wonderful water views and cool breezes.
I have been to the Mackinaw City location, but this was my first time here. I had been looking for their Strawberry Rhubarb wine, as they were out in Mackinaw City last time I was there. They had plenty in stock. The woman working was very nice and helpful. She made suggestions on places to stay and on places for dinner. Service and wine were both great. We will definitely be back!

I have been looking for a "Lake Michigan- Unsalted" t-shirt for two years!! Finally found one here. I should've looked earlier in the summer and there was only one color and one size left but I got one for my son. Also, found some American flag windsocks which are sometimes hard to find. This store has so much- it's a good place to go for special gifts. moccasins, candles, you name it. The owners are friendly and helpful. I'd recommend stopping if you're going through Manistique.

I don't golf but they have a wonderful restaurant this summer. (I wasn't sure if I should add it as a restaurant because it's only seasonal) The people running the restaurant also have one in the city of Manistique (#1 as far as I'm concerned) so my husband & I decided to try it at the golf and country club. They only have dinners on Friday nights and will only do that till the end of August. Both my husband & myself had the perch dinner- it was very good. The best part were the desserts though! I had the salted caramel cake and my husband had the nutella turnovers- both were delicious!! The waitresses are very friendly and efficient. I wish we would've went earlier this year and I sincerely hope they do it again next summer.
