We found this museum by chance online at the end of our holiday and are so glad we did! Very cheap entry price for 3 stunning floors of military history. So much in one place but perfectly organised and arranged. Very clean and welcoming. Staff were extremely friendly and informative. Great little gift shop items too. I highly recommend a visit.

Lovely place to walk dogs - option of along the Promenade or round green fields. Can get busy as it was for this event but have been there on a lovely summers evening to virtually have the place to ourselves. Dogs love iy

I go here all the time to walk the dogs with wife and daughter. There is a big free car park, places to eat, and tarmacked walks with wonderful views of boats and waterways. It is going from strength to strength, with little improvements showing up on each visit. Everyone should go here at least once.

Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome is a unique place, with a unique history. Its story covers 100 years of life comprising feverish excitement interspersed with periods of calm and tranquillity. The aerodrome lies to the east of Chelmsford and west of Maldon, Essex, within an area of gently-rolling farmland. It is the largest known surviving group of RFC buildings on a WWI aerodrome which was not adapted for further military use later in its history. When considered with its growing collection of objects directly related to the site and its activities, a truly unique resource is evident. The site has significant natural heritage value and is in Natural England’s Higher Level Environmental Stewardship scheme. Ponds and a meadow have been created and the land supports declining farmland species such as brown hare, corn bunting, yellowhammer and a variety of owls, including barn owls and overwintering short-eared owls. It first opened in 1916 as home to B Flight of No 37(HD) Squadron.
My husband, an ex pilot, and I absolutely loved this place. We visited on a normal mid week day, in school term time and it was nearly deserted. We like that, as you get to see everything easily! The adult £8/concession £6 entry is fine, knowing that this is a growing concern and would be a tragedy to lose.
However, having read other reviews, I feel I need to add that if they do grow they will need to train their volunteers and their website team to work in a more professional manner. I agree that it would be incredibly annoying to turn up to an event, really looking forward to the day and then be turned away. Perhaps talking to Shuttleworth and finding out how they manage fully booked events might help.
At present it has a 'hobby' atmosphere and knowing that people who part with hard earned money expect a lot in return in the UK it will need to change.
The free tour is essential if you want to see the planes in the hanger, but our tour guide gave us so much information I would have even been happy to pay for it!
The cafe food was delicious. The Pianolas were a once in a lifetime treat. The shop has some lovely gift ideas. The model hand built planes are gorgeous but the museum could do with more physical displays rather than so much Reading.
I have great hopes that this place will go from strength to strength if everyone gives them a chance to work out their issues as they arise and don't just moan about them and walk away. This is a place that we must not lose!

Took two grandchildren of 12 & 10 to the museum and they were very interested in the exhibits - as were we! They especially liked the interactive items. Cafe very nice and impressed with gluten free cake!

Situated on Maldon’s high street this building has been a number of things during it’s existence.
Owned by the local council it contains the original council chamber, also the old courtroom and cells for the prisoners. Views from the rooftop over Maldon are good and its history is most interesting. Guided tours are available and no doubt need to be booked.

Hayletts Gallery continues to push the boundaries of creative representation for a growing number of visitors. Exhibitions which are both challenging but accessible to locals and visitors alike. It continues to promote local, national and international creative talent. Sally Patrick certainly knows her audience, she strives to entertain and stimulate by showing a wide range of artists, some well known, some new and previously unknown and many with a local connection which I think is the secret of her success. Each exhibition is different and provides my partner and I something to stimulate and interest and... often something to buy for our very full walls.
Hayletts also has a fab shop with a great selection of products suitable for presents and all occasions.
Keep it up Sally!

This attraction is a Holiday Park & campsite situated by the River Blackwater in Heybridge, Essex. Attraction includes Camping & Caravanning, country walks and cycle rides, Bar & Restaurant, amusements, large playground and Gold David Bellamy Conservation Award & 4* Visit England Award.
Easy check-in and clear instructions from staff.
The Lodge Tent was excellent accommodation and immaculately clean on arrival. The play parks nearby are excellent and the way the different areas are divided by the longer grass makes you feel far away from everyone else.
Recommendations if you decide to book are; go crabbing on Mersey Island, take marshmallows and long skewers for the fire pit that comes with a lodge tent, use the Asda 5 mins away to buy food and drink as there is obviously no refrigeration in the tent.
