Lubart's Castle

Reviewed By Kyle_from_Colorado - Denver, Colorado

A group of friends and I recently visited Lubart's Castle while on a break from a business trip to the area. It was in surprisingly good shape and it wasn't overly crowded for our visit. (A welcome surprise for someone with memories of standing room only Castles in Germany and France!)
The castle operates on the Ukrainian model of admissions prices: your general admission is just that. And you pay à la carte for each individual experience within the castle grounds. Despite this, I found the prices to be reasonable. You have to consider that some of your fee helps preserve the castle.
My personal favorite experiences at Lubart's Castle were the museum of bells and the tour of the castle's tower (conducted in Ukrainian, FYI). For those who only pay general admission, the vertigo-inducing views from the wall onto the city below are still good fun.
I can't imagine a trip to Lutsk without visiting this castle. Highly recommended.

Bells Museum

When entering the museam 2 people were sitting there in a glass room of some sort. They show no interest in talking. The Bells basically just sit there without any information exposing their secrets. It's left to you to try and read the inscriptions. Some were German, some Ukrainian. Disappointment.

Lately the zoo was reconstructed, so now it has a modern look. Currently the zoo is one of the interesting places to visit in Lutsk. Only small animals are kept in the the cages. The big animals (bears, lions, tigers) are kept in large aviaries.

A usual house decorated with A LOT of unusual sculptures. Pure chaos, with a lot of garbage on the territory: looks like a constant work in progress. If you happen to be in Lutsk and are going to visit the castle, you can go here as well, as it's pretty close.

Pokrovska Church

Reviewed By Валерий Н - Moscow, Russia
