Had a great time hiking on the glacier. We did the Short Blue Ice Hike with Jostedalen Breførarlag and had a great experience. As advertised, it is a bit of a trek in - 15 minutes on the boat (each way) + 45 minutes uphill to get from the lake to the glacier. Does require at least a moderate fitness level (one person in our larger group was struggling to make it up to the glacier so turned back before going on the glacier). Great views along the way. Once on the ice, we stopped a number of times for pictures and a snack break. We had a great Nepalese guide who definitely knew his stuff - we felt very safe on the glacier - and was able to take some pictures for us as well. Make sure to clarify what parking lot to meet at (its the one on the lake) and leave enough time to get through the toll between the lot at the glacier center and the meeting point. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting the area! Leave time to look around the exhibits at the Glacier center before/after as well - great views off the back deck.

A blue ice walk in the middle of the high mountains of Norway where you will get a spectacular view of the western part of Jotunheimen and Hurrungane. On the glacier we do a tour through a landscape of crevasses and blue ice towers. This is a nice all-day hike where the guide will tell you something about flora, geology and glaciers.

Short farm visits and walks with our llamas. We offer informal and reasonably priced activities with the emphasis on visitors having the opportunity to experience close contact with our herd of llamas. They can be taken on a walk by the river, which is both special and relaxing. We also keep an old breed of Norwegian sheep and sell home grown strawberries and raspberries.
We had such a great time walking the lamas. We walked to a viewpoint and the view was great. The lamas seemed well taken care of and had such great personalities.

Swimming center located in Gaupne. The sports and family facility offers a 25 m lap pool, diving boards/platforms, glass climbing wall, water slides, baby pool and children`s pool. The wellness facility has a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere with recreation pool, relaxation cave, sauna and steam room and shower. Outdoor patio with 2 plunge pools (warm and cold). Cafeteria and swim shop.
On a dark, wet winters day (+1C) called in here on a recommendation from a local. Had the place to ourselves, 2adults 2 kids. Phenomenon thought and designed went into this community owned asset (council), only wish my own country had as much pride in designing publicly owned buildings. Kids had their first ever sauna and steam and loved the electronic timer on the slide (that I won!). We all jumped in the cold pool too. Opening times aren’t normal times so check before visiting.

Although we didn’t climb Molden in January, we drove past it daily as we were staying on Mollandsmarki road. You might need chains on your car depending on weather...we wouldn’t of gotten up the road without them.

Glacier Hiking+RIB boat: Join our experienced guides for a glacier adventure at Jostedal Glacier National Park The tour starts with a RIB-boat experience, to get into the wilderness. We walk in easy terrain to the glacier and into the blue ice world. This location is remote, and we will not see other people during our glacier walk. We take small groups and our guests will explore the nature in private surroundings. Body Rafting: A wild, fresh and wet adventure for the whole family With wetsuit, lifejacket and helmet we go body rafting in a canyon. Swimming and easy climbing, waterslides and jumping from cliffs are the challenges you will meet in the nature´s own Aqua Park. We guarantee it`s fun, and everybody can decide the level of their own challenge.

Norway's oldest stave church (1130) and part of UNESCO's world heritage list since 1979. We are open from 2nd May to 30th September every year (exept 17th May, which is the Norwegian Constitution Day).
Urnes is possibly the oldest and most outstanding representative of the stave churches. The church expresses in wood how structures of Romanesque architecture were designed. By the use of cylindrical columns with cubic capitals and semi-circular arches. The wood carving and sculpted decor of excellent quality on the outside includes strap-work panels and elements of Viking tradition from the 11th century which constitute the origin of the "Urnes style” also found in other parts of Scandinavia and North-Western Europe. The carvings on the northern wall are a decoration of interlaced, fighting animals. Similar carvings cover the western gable triangle of the nave and the eastern gable of the choir. The carvings are important both as outstanding artistic artifacts, and as a link between the pre-Christian Nordic culture and the Christianity of the medieval ages. Many of the Viking styled carvings originated from the the Celts in Ireland. The Urnes Stave Church has been sort of renovated over the centuries where they cut and repaired portions of the interior. One of the large main columns inside had been cut off to create a private area for the pastor. The result was that the church started to lean a bit. They then had to add squared timbers inside to stabilize the structure but it still leans a bit. It is well worthwhile to take the tour which allows you to go inside as well as learning about the transitions and changes made and the meanings of the carvings. To get to this church requires greater effort as it is not just on the side of a highway like many other stave churches. One could certainly drive from Skjolden the 30+ km but beware it is a rough road. The alternative is to go to Solvorn and take the ferry across to Ornes, then walk up the hill maybe 3/4 mile to the church. I do not advise taking a car on the ferry if you are just going to visit the church. Parking is limited at Ornes and you will have to walk a portion of it anyway. All vehicles have to be backed onto the ferry and it only holds eight. There is also a visitor center across from the church with a gift shop and more historical exhibits.
