Still trying to figure out why this is named Shark Reef Sanctuary? A definite must visit. Hike down to the water and then continue to the left on the trail till it is in front of the large rock island. There were lots of seals swimming around when we arrived and then they all decided to take naps along the rocks on the island. I counted almost 50 seals!! When hiking from the parking area dont stop right when the trail ends at the water. i saw many do this and they missed the big attraction. Continue on the trail to the left otherwise why bother.

This was our first stop when we got to Lopez. It helped the kids get through all the traveling, since they could look forward to some ice cream. And it was delicious. It had awesome flavor and great texture. We also got a slice of fudge, and it was truly amazing. I've had plenty of fudge in my life, and this fudge is really unique and special. It has such a great texture. It's just so smooth and creamy and . . . well, fudgy. Now I have to find a new recipe to make for the holidays, because my basic Kraft marshmallow fluff recipe is so inadequate. It's so dry compared to this place's fudge. We really regret waiting until we got home to try our slice. If we had tried it while we were still on the island, we would have bought so much more. You MUST try this fudge.

This was a nice walk with great views. The parking lot is actually before the road ends. There are not a lot of parking spaces, so on a nice day, I imagine you would need to go early. Signage was not great, but we figured it out. You actually have to walk through a neighborhood to get to the rest of the trail.
