The city hall has an amazing museum inside. For 5 EUR, you can see 3 places around the main square, definitely worth it.

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived and saw how neatly and well kept the historic centre of Levoca is - also the fact that the centre seems surrounded by fields - at least that is the feeling you get when seeing it from the old town as it is located a little higher than the rest of Levoca. It really is a picturesque centre with the architecture of all building blending seemlessly with each other. Well worth a visit.

This church, also called St. James Basilica Minor, dominates the main square of this historic town, and its tall slender is the most distinct feature of Levoca's silhouette. The interior houses a set of 18 altarpieces, a collection of medieval and Renaissance sacred art. The 61-ft high gilded main altarpiece is the world's tallest Gothic altar. It was carved from lime wood in 1501-1517 by Master Pavel of Levoca, who also created the six-ft high statues of the Madonna, St. James and St. John the Evangelist. An interesting anecdote: our guide told us that this Roman Catholic Church shared the space with Lutherans at one point in time.

Maybe you have seen it in the movies, but here is the real deal... It has been used in the past in some more dark ages. Now-days, you can view it in the center of this town.
