This is a marvelous design , I felt like it was a dream , but it's something more than that I expected , please skip the holidays because of lot of people. Try to be there in the early morning. Don't forget to visit by the river side also. I couldn't make it , but I felt it's the best way to visit it.

Lingyun Giant Buddha

Reviewed By yuki1234 - United Kingdom

Took a day trip from Chengdu to Leshan to see the Giant Buddha, and it was totally worth the couple of hours in a bus. I viewed the Buddha from the River as due to time constraints I did not have the time to queue and walk around the Buddha with other pilgrims. I would suggest doing this as the whole experience looked amazing. However, if you are stretched for time the river view is also very good. The Buddha itself is just awe inspiring and a must see when in the area.

Leshan Bridge

You'll cross this attractive bridge after you leave the Mahao Cave Tomb Museum and head towards the Wuyou Temple. It's not accessible unless you've bought a ticket for the entire complex. It's a very pretty, unusual bridge that makes a good photo op.

Wuyou Temple

Reviewed By Jarko2015 - Amsterdam, The Netherlands

The last stop on the Giant Buddha complex ticket (although you can do the tour in reverse, making it the first) the climb up to the monastery is intense, but worth every step. Lots to see, including the amazing Arhat Hall, featuring 500 very colourful buddhas. It's a living, working monastery, so you will see the monks at prayer in the very impressive temples. The climb back down is just as intense. Unfortunately. Not a place anyone with any walking issues could ever handle. It's included in the RMB70 entrance fee, but you can't buy a ticket just for the temple itself.

Oriental Buddha Capital

Reviewed By Mj184 - Toronto, Canada

We visited the Oriental Buddha Capital just before seeing Leshan Giant Buddha. We actually ended up seeing it by mistake after buying the combo ticket and not knowing what it was. Upon entering we were shocked at how beautiful the park was and how few tourists were there. The park contains thousands of buddha statues in amazing condition and is extremely atmospheric.
I would highly recommend visiting at the same time as seeing the Giant Buddha.

Lingyun Cliff Road

The cliff road is the only way down to the bottom of the Grand Buddha, but it is both fun and a little scary. It is very safe, as it has a strong, high guardrail, but you get different views of the Buddha as you descend. Great fun, great views.

Leshan River, Friend and Foe

Ok so they aren't the newest boats ever, but they do run regularly from both sides of the river. You are given a life jacket to wear. The boat holds position just off the Buddha for photography opportunities. The only drawback is on a misty morning the Buddha is surrounded by mist as it is sitting in a niche in the cliff. Even then I think it is a lovely way to view the monument.

Took a quick look on my way to the Leshan Buddha; it's along the route up the mountain to the top of the Buddha. It's a square pagoda like the ones in Xi'an. It's a quick stop but otherwise there isn't much else to do.
