Lewis Station Winery

We are one of Wisconsin's most unique urban wineries in a re-purposed early 20th-century gas station. We specialize in small-batch, hand crafted "California Style" award-winning wines. We have won many gold and silver medals at the World Wine Competition and Finger Lakes Wine Competition. Free samples available. We also have a large variety of artisan Wisconsin cheeses, craft beers and gourmet chocolates. We've also opened a bistro focused on the farm to table experience. Not only delicious wine but delicious food too.

We stopped here on a Sunday to have some appetizers and wine tasting. Unfortunately the kitchen is closed on Sundays. We were able to buy some cheese and sausage and was given a knife and cutting board so we ended up with a cheese and sausage plate to go with our wine. The wines were fantastic and it was a very enjoyable experience.

This pottery studio specializes in art nouveau styles. The colors are rich, and the designs are original. The artists in residence are free to make whatever shapes, colors, and finishes they wish. I especially liked the realistic animals that clung to many of the vases, such as frogs, dragonflies, and bats. If you wish to paint your own tile, for $49 you can select a pre-stamped unglazed tile and an assistant will help you paint your own tile! My friend and I spent 2+ hours happily painting, and are looking forward to receiving the glazed tile in the mail after it is fired in the kiln.

Sunshine Brewing Company

Founded by Lane and Sherry Smith in 2017, Sunshine Brewing Company has been a dream in the making for over a decade. Having moved from San Diego, CA in 2006 at the birth of the craft beer movement we brought with us our thirst for locally produced beers along with our never ending quest for adventure. Throughout the years we have always been drawn to the beers of Belgium and we are excited to bring these incredible flavors to Wisconsin. Sunshine is a small batch brewery. Our 3 barrel system allows us to have new, fresh beer every week, brewed on site. Our cozy taproom and event space reside on Mill Pond, downtown Lake Mills Wisconsin. The original cream city brick building served as cold storage in the late 1800’s. Ice would be harvested from Rock Lake and brought into our back door. It now serves as our taproom, a place to enjoy delicious beer, meet new friends and gather with old ones.

We stopped in for two flights (8 total), which allowed us to try all the beers on tap. We each found a favorite. Customer service was good, quick to refill your water, knowledgeable, and kind. We will come back!

Aztalan State Park

Reviewed By AndrewFromMadison - Madison, United States

This place is very unusual for the State of Wisconsin. Wisconsin is home to overwhelming majority of Native American Mounds, but of different kind - Effigy and Conical and others left by so-called Woodland culture. Aztalan has some of those too. But the bigger attraction here is mounds left by so-called Mississippian culture. The place most associated with those people is Cahokia, Illinois. However from there on, Mississippian people traveled to Lake Mills, Wisconsin, and established outpost here (as well as Trempealeau, Wisconsin). The platform mounds are astonishing, if you're interested in that period of history, complemented here by Conical Mounds, stockade, Princess burial and more!
