The naturum Vattenriket visitor centre, on the banks of the River Helge å, just west of Kristianstad railway station, is a natural starting point when visiting Vattenriket. Here you find Exhibitions, guided tours and all the information you need. When you have visited the exhibition at Naturum Vattenriket and replenished your energy levels in the restaurant, you should take the time to explore the biosphere reserve. You can either make your own way to some of our 20 visitor sites, or book a guided tour on the water or on land. Our staff in reception will be pleased to offer tips and advice about excursions.
A lovely spot, which has become a fixture in the everyday life of locals - and rightly so. Great for kids, but a little lacking in in-depth info. Very little information in English or other languages for tourists- but still worth a visit.
If you're lucky you will see the local otters.

And lucky me, the hotel (Hotel Anno 1937) was right across the street . Imagine what a view!
I loved the building, inside is just another active church, nothing extravagant, but not the last one on the list either.
The church is central, just around the corner form the main square, Town Hall, Concert Hall and Info centre.
The town is small and surprisingly quiet, almost dead in the evenings, in September that is. The town's main square was the same. Lazy I would say, I found everybody here is more laid back than other cities. But it was worth spending a night in Kristianstad.

From the outside Bäckaskogs slott looks very impressive, but unfortunately it's nicer from the outside than inside. Having said that, the breakfast room and other public rooms are rather nice, but the actual rooms vary in quality. Some are OK although a bit dated, while others are quite ghastly but in size and interior. Beware of this if you book a room at Bäckaskogs castle.

This is one of (currently) 25 museums part of the Swedish Military Heritage. The Artillery museum have an impressive collection of canons and vehicles from about 17th century and forwards - strictly with connection to Sweden. If you like military history, this will probably make your trip worthwhile. However, the museum seems to be in a build-up phase where a lot of work is done by volunteers (i.e. retired officers with connection to the closed down artillery museum in Kristianstad). Nothing bad in that - they have put an amazing amount of heart and sweat into the place but it suffers a bit from "doing-the-best-of-the-situation" theme. This is mainly shown in lack of good housing. The museum is spread out in about 7 different buildings (old storages) in close proximity of each other. Each of them with its own theme. In some of the buildings they stuff is just lined up one piece after another in a row. You'll have to squeeze yourself past the canons in order to see the one behind. This is the major minus of this place. The collection is excellent (every canon and truck is in working condition, but made useless by having the key piece kept locked away). Not only from just canons and trucks but also from diorama displays and an excellent collection of communication equipment from the past until today. They don't accept credit cards so bring cash and watch out for somewhat irregular opening hours depending on season of the year. People with movement disabilities will have a hard time to access everything. some buildings are adapted for wheelchairs but at least half of the place will be impossible to visit in a wheelchair. I hope this collection will get better building/s to justify the collection in the best way.

Welcome to the Regional Museum in Kristianstad and the Center of Contemporary Art! The Regional museums permanent Exhibitions on the main square of central Kristianstad focus on individual histories, charting how life has changed in Kristianstad and the rest of the province of Skåne over the years, while our temporary Exhibitions cover a broad spectrum of topical subjects. Center for Contemporary Art The Center for Contemporary Art is in a process of constant renewal, showing installations, paintings, graphic arts and photos. The Exhibitions also look beyond the borders of Sweden to give the visitors glimpses of contemporary art from all over the world, proving a natural forum for meetings and discussions. Café and Museum Shop In the Café Miró you can enjoy an espresso and a selection of homebaked delicacies, or sit down to a light lunch. During the summer months café guests can relax in the shade of the walnut trees in museum courtyard. A memento of your visit can be found in our museum shop, where you can find handicrafts, jewelry, glasswear, books about Skåne and unconventional gifts. The selection offered is continually updated to reflect our current Exhibitions.
We walked past this museum and noticed the "free entry" sign on the door so we went in to take a look around. On the ground floor is a boutique/museum shop as well as a bakery/cafe. The exhibits are upstairs. We really thought the historical exhibit on Kristianstad was well done, but unfortunately there was no signage in English. We walked through a temporary fashion exhibit and a film exhibit and only there did we see a small sign posted on the wall that there were English audioguides available for some of the exhibits. We sure wished that notice had been posted at the entrance of the town history exhibit -- if we'd known, we would have gone back downstairs to get it! But by this time we had spent quite a bit of time and didn't want to go through again.
All in all a nice museum, and free entry, but be sure to stop at the desk to see if there's an audioguide before heading upstairs.

I read about it in a book about Sweden's Castles but there were no reviews in here.
I am glad I searched this castle. It is such a beautiful building and set in gorgeous surroundings. See pictures.
The garden are stunning and all the landscape is manicured. It is only 30 minutes South from Kristianstad on a very good road. The castle is private, I am not sure if you can get inside, this is all I know about it:
" It is one of the best-preserved Renaissance Castles in the Nordic countries, and was erected by Jens Brahe in the 16th century as a defence structure. It is currently the private residence of the Stjernswärd family."
If you are into old architecture and history I suggest you pass by, you wont be disappointed.

Har blivit ett återkommande resmål för oss i hela familjen. Hyrkarten är bra, banan fantastisk och man kan åka dubbelkart med de minsta om de inte kan köra själv.

Kristianstad kartingklubb are the owner of the track Asum ring where there is several events during the season. The club are the organiser of the the world championship in Karting but also there are local events in any kind on the track.

At the old station Kristianstad Southern the Railway Museum is located. In the museum's yard, you can see the station buildings, locomotives, wagons and railroad artifacts from a bygone era. The rail yard is open year round, but the museum is only open during the summer. The museum's exhibition space is something for everyone, families with children as well as train buffs.

Riktigt bra organiserat.
