SPA OYA is a lake-front, day spa located at the picturesque "Koggala" Lake. Spacious & soothing, designed to wellness. Located in Koggala, just 14 minutes when you exit the southern expressway from Galle. The inspiration for this project was the desire to build a spa that would heighten the sensations from the harmony, purity and beauty.
Few miles from Galle town i found this beautiful retreat center & day SPA near koggala lake. It is just few meters from Colombo- matara main road or you can take the boat ride from Koggala lake. The treatment is their key factor, The manager & therapists are really professional. Ambiance & the overall experience in SPA OYA is really something unforgettable. You should not miss visiting this amazing retreat center if you are in the area. You can chill in the pool while enjoying a beer or wine. & they serve amazing food too. THE BEST SPA EXPERIENCE & VALUE FOR MONEY.!!

The "Sea Turtle Farm & Hatchery" is a non - profitable organization which is maintained for the survival of Sea Turtles for the next generation. The "Turtle Farm" is situated in Koggala (southern part of Sri Lanka - Galle District) near to the beautiful beach. That is 12km from the Galle - Matara main road. The center was started in 2010 and up to now we have released more than 100,000 Turtles.
Hats off to the team at the Sea Turtle Conservation At Kohala. It is terribly sad to see what we as humans can do such beautiful creatures. Please think next time you want to use a plastic bag. For a sea turtle it looks like jelly fish and a meal but the consequences are just awful

Koggala Lake is one of the biggest natural lakes in Sri Lanka. A number of islands are scattered in the lake among which the Temple Island, Modol Doova, Bird Island and the Cinnamon island are the most famous. The lake is rich in birdlife and mangroves and is a major attraction for tourists.
Lovely boat trip across the lake enjoying a couple of stop offs to Cinnamon Island and a temple which was beautiful. We saw a crock too which was exciting. Go late afternoon but remember that inspect spray!

Stilt fishing is a method of fishing unique to the island country of Sri Lanka, known as “the Pearl of the Indian Ocean”. The fishermen sit on a cross bar called a ‘petta’ tied to a vertical pole and driven into the sand a few meters offshore. From this high position, the fishermen casts his line, and waits until a fish comes along to be caught. Although the approach looks primitive and ancient,
Not me! Yes I know stilt fishermen don't exist anymore and the guys down at the beach here are effectively just (bad) actors who will pose on the stilts for you and pretend they are fishermen, while looking extremely bored. But....I was happy to pay my 1000 SLR and get on the stilts with them for that truly iconic photo. I got the beach to myself just before a packed tourist bus arrived so got lucky. Call me naive but I knew what I was paying for and I for one are very happy with the picture I now have on my wall. Nothing says Sri Lanka more than a sunset view of the stilt fishermen. If you don't agree, don't go!
