The Wakhan Corridor or Valley stretches from Khorog to past Langar, along the Panj (or Amu Darya) river which forms the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan. The river itself is green/turquoise in color due to the minerals it carries, and the landscape along this valley is spectacular in both countries. We were on the Tajik side, and along the alley, you get hot springs (Bibi-Fatima, Garam Chasma), ancient fortresses (Yamchun), ancient Buddhist Stupkas (at Vrang), Museum at Yamg and great farming etc etc. This is definitely a must do

You can visit us at our office in Chor Bogh. Our office is daily open from 8:30-18:00 (Lunch 12:00 - 13:00)! We can answer all your questions and help you to organize tours or just renting you a sleeping bag. Our brand new coffee machine is probably the main reason to visit us. We sell also stamps (just 2 Somoni) and Post Cards!
This beautiful new centre shows how the local government, aided by the Aga Khan Foundation, are trying to promote tourism in the region. The handicrafts are better quality than you will find in the bazaars.

Beautiful center of peace and tranquility in central Khorog. Built recently with all local materials, it has very nice grounds and you can have a tour organized to show you the place. It is also a prayer hall in the evenings

This lake resides in a high altitude basin with no drainage. It is surrounded by mountains which provide a beautiful backdrop as they are covered with snow. We walked near the lake. Beware: the silt of the lakeshore is very sticky and almost impossible to remove from shoes.

Garm Chashma is really something. In the bright August sunshine, this place shines like a diamond - I recommend you bring sunglasses! Cover yourself in the white mud and dip in the hot spring. It's soothing and does leave your skin feeling really smooth and looking radiant. The legend is that it cures skin ailments, and I believe it. It's located pretty centrally to a few restaurants as well, so you can take a long soak in the hot springs and then eat plov or soup and drink tea.

We wnt there late in the afternoon and entered the building and were amazed at the variety of items being sold there. I think they were amazed at the sight of us. @ americans over 5:7 a blonde and brunette.. The displays were laid out by types of products they were selling from pharmaceuticals to rugs to fruit. It was wonderful and the odors were fantastic. We walked out the dide door and there were many kiosks all around the back streets. It was wonderful and we bought some great gifts. If you go be sure to visit that area as wll. The prices were unbelievable and we had a great time talking to the locals who were very eager to help us.
