The museum is MASSIVE, and there are more planes, military equipment and uniforms, and war artifacts to count. To try to read everything would take hours! The best part about the museum is admission is free! You will definitely get good exercise just walking throughout the space, but prepare for long walks for small kids and those with mobility challenges (I believe there are strollers and scooters available in the lobby) There are several planes in hangar 4, including a few Air Force One, that can be walked through, but the spaces are very narrow, which I can see problematic for larger or older individuals. There are opportunities for flight simulators geared towards older children and adults. My two toddlers (ages 4 and 3) had a great time seeing all the planes, but I wish there were more interactive exhibits/exhibits children could sit in, that would entertain smaller kids. Def recommend for Dayton visitors and history buffs!

This beautiful 189-acre facility is a special place for visitors to escape among trees, shrubs, specialty gardens, mature forests, and prairies. The arboretum hosts year-round educational programs that teach children and adults about sustainable horticulture, plant science, and conservation. Cox Arboretum MetroPark is also home to a native-Ohio Butterfly House.
We visited the place at the end of the day. The park is relatively small, yet refreshing and nice. There were no butterflies in the butterfly house (maybe because of time). I can hardly remember my toddler so happy in a park. Wish there were butterflies for her to watch.

Hawthorn Hill was designed by the Wright Brothers and served as the home of Orville Wright along with his sister and father following Wilbur's death in 1912. Recently acquired by the local historical society, the home has been painstakingly restored with the original furniture that had been conveniently stored in the home's attic. In addition to touring the home, visitors learn about the brothers, their custom designs and technological inventions, and are introduced to the many dignitaries who visited the home over the years.

Going in the middle of the week was a good choice. I got a personal walk around inside the transportation museum and the Wright museum. Both of these are well worth the visit, not to mention everything else on the grounds. There are some historical artifacts that you cannot see anywhere else as they literally don't exist. The grounds are lovely and I would love to come back when the weather is nice. The staff is excellent as well. I haven't been to a museum where the docents were that helpful in a long time. As an added bonus a young bald eagle pair has just established a nest above the Wright museum and you can see them flying around or sitting in the trees. Very neat experience.

This historic urban park has been a natural refuge for Daytonians since 1907. Its lush natural atmosphere provides a range of activities for visitors of all ages. With significant restorations completed in 2009, MetroParks has insured that Hills & Dales will continue its tradition as an outdoor playground for future generations.
Some place right close that you can take kids for a hike through Nature. Many trails provide an interesting display of plant and animal life..lots of shade to provide relief from the Summer heat

My wife and I walked around the green. A lot of nice restaurants. Most of the stores are high priced yuppie stores. Not really my taste is stores. Nice movie theater. Nice place for a short walk. Nice atmosphere.
Not one of my favorite places to shop.
