It took George H.W. Bush to make Kennebunkport known to most of the country, but New Englanders have enjoyed this quiet coastal Maine town for years. In hot weather, beaches are a major draw, but Kennebunkport's many small boutiques, art galleries and restaurants make a visit fun at any time of year. Inveterate shoppers may want to combine a visit to Kennebunkport with a trip to nearby Kittery, where dozens of outlets and factory stores offer plenty of bargains.

What a great place to take a leisurely stroll. "After hours" it is the perfect place to bring your people and dog friendly pooch. This goes without saying, really, but clean up after your dog - people will take notice and will take action. And humans, please pick up your own trash!

This scenic drive in Kennebunkport passes by former President George Bush's summer home.
there is a sidewalk that crosses back and forth. Watch out though, there are plenty of curves and traffic. Walk up far enough and you will get to the Bush compound. (you can tell by the crowds) Everyone and all the locals have their favorite story of the Bush family. they are well loved in the area.

This “beach area” is great for families. A kids play ground is adjacent to the beach. Relatively small area that becomes crowded when weather is warm. Great place for kids / families to sit and watch people play in the water / waves. Note: parking is limited so early time to visit is BEFORE 9 am. Available parking is steps from your towels and chairs. Delightful place to visit with porta-potties close by. Enjoy!

Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge was established to protect valuable salt marshes and estuaries for migratory birds. Visitors can enjoy wildlife viewing year-around on the refuge.
The Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge honors the work of a major American naturalist. Ms. Carson would no doubt be happy to see how this place was developed. Its located in a wooded setting. One follows a flat, well-marked path with lookouts along the way, where one can stop to take in beautiful views of the salt marshes, with different aspects of their ecology highlighted in a brochure that one can pick up at the visitors center. The atmosphere is such that one is inclined to proceed at a leisurely pace and just enjoy being in this beautiful place. The entire walk is one mile in length. Thank goodness for nature preserves like this one!

Beautifully restored trolleys from all over the United States. Take time to ride a trolley and learn how they served the area until buses provided transportation. I was head of a group that toured the Trolley museum. Many positive comments were heard.Thank you for your review-so glad that your group enjoyed their visit.

The oceanfront home of former President George Bush.
The Summer Home of George Herbert Walker Bush, 93, has been in his family since it was built in 1902. He & Barbara are held dear by the 3,000 residents of Kennebunkport, where they spend May-October of every year.
Set on a promontory that juts out into the rugged Atlantic Ocean, the estate has been Host to many foreign dignitaries as well as extended family members. So much history on this spot.

The shoreline of this popular swimming beach is dotted with large granite rocks.
The beach is scenic, plenty of room to do some serious walking either on the sand or on the parallel sidewalk. Since this was after labor day dogs are allowed on the beach so be aware of that. The dogs are not a problem, they stay with their owners and seem well behaved. If you want a great experience try to see the sunrise. A beautiful sight. Sunset the same.

Celebrating more than 20 years as one of Southern Maine's premier art gallery destinations and proudly representing more than 30 artists on a continuing, year-round basis. The gallery is located in Lower Village, Kennebunk, just steps away from Dock Square, Kennebunkport.
This gallery is located in the center of the action in Kennebunk. It is hard to miss because of all the wind sculptures that are outside the studio. That is ultimately what caused us to visit. As we approached, we were met by Donna who...MoreWe are so happy you enjoyed your time with us. Donna is a gem. We are lucky to have her. Enjoy your sculptures and send pictures.
