KanyaKumari is a town in KanyaKumari district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The name comes from the Devi Kanya Kumari Temple in the region, in Tamil it is pronounced as 'Kan-niya-kumari'. It is the southernmost tip of peninsular India, and is surrounded on three sides by the Laccadive Sea.Kanyakumari town is the southern tip of the Cardamom Hills, an extension of the Western Ghats range. Nearest city is Thiruvanathapuram (85km) and airport is Trivandrum International Airport, Trivandrum , Kerala. and the nearest town is Nagercoil, the administrative headquarters of Kanyakumari District, 22 km (14 mi) away. Kanyakumari has been a town since Sangam period and is a popular tourist destination.

Great place with highly significance in Indian history, great experience in meditation room at smarak, you can see the souther tip of India with Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal & Indian Ocean coming together at Sangam. Rock is magnificent & with Parvati mandir. Normally during weekends there is huge rush & waiting time for boat will be between 1-2 hrs, there is special entry also available at Rs 200/- per head. It takes around 2 hrs to complete this trip.

It is a place GOD Brahma, vishnu and siva bless his devotees at a single place. Ancient temple following the culture and rituals without any compromise. Boys have remove their shirt to enter the temple. Very very powerful and ancient temple. You should appoint a guide, to understand the " STHALA POORANAM" A MUST TO VISIT PLACE OF ALL HINDU DEVOTEES.

If you are touring around Kanyakumari district, Mathur Aqueduct or Mathur Hanging Trough is a must see place.. such a breath taking structure built in 60s for irrigation purposes. With a height from the bridge, you can experience a wonderful scenery of lush forest and river on both sides. When you get down on the other side of the bridge, you can even take a small dip in the river during seasons, since the water is clean too.. it is a wonderful experience to witness the river, the trees surrounding it and also the magnificent bridge...

Travancore history kept intact here. This Palace is home to many unique antiques and artefacts. Adorned with exquisite wooden carvings and designs, the simplicity of the Palace is what makes it a truly charming destination.Padmanabha puram palace is a splendid example of unique Kerala style architecture. It offers an insight to Kerala's golden era while ruled under the kings of Travancore. Pay attention to the murals at the ticket counter, it is beautiful and the usage of natural colors are amazing. The main gates are ornamented heavily with various wooden sculptures and lotuses whose size , and the perfection straightaway catches ones eyes. You are then lead to a triangular entrance to the main building. Here is were kings used to receive the dignitaries. Look up and you will see an array of 90 lotus that are carved into the ceiling. Timing - 9am–4:30pm. It is Great palace of Travancore kingdom. Built almost 400 years ago. Entry ticket is Rs 35 for adults (Indian). Rs10 for children (Indian). Rs300 for adults (foreign).Camera Rs50. Footwears are not allowed inside the palace, we have to walk barefoot. We have to walk a long way inside the palace and no shops inside the palace so remember to carry enough water with you especially in summer. You can visit this palace on your way to Kanyakumari.

The sunset around this time of the year usually happens around 6 15 pm. It would be good to be present here atleast 1 hour before the sunset. That ways you get to sit on the rocks, have a view of the beach waves, read a book, click photos or simply chat !
