The Cape Verdean island of Sal is all about the beach, baby. White sand stretches along glassy turquoise waters—perfect for a lazy day of sunning or some heart-pumping watersports. Snorkelers and divers will find plenty of tropical fish, turtles, and dolphins to look at. On dry land, kids (and grownups!) will marvel at the Terra Boa mirage, an optical illusion that conjures a peaceful-looking lake in the middle of a large, flat plain.

Visit Project Biodiversity's Turtle Hatchery on the beach by the Riu Hotel to observe the excavation of Loggerhead sea turtle nests, learn about the conservation of the species and have the chance to see baby Loggerhead turtles. The public activities are during the turtle season, from August until mid-December. 2020 turtle season has officially finished!
Very interesting talk given by volunteers at 5pm each day at hatchery. Saw baby turtles that had hatched that day being dug out of the sand and put into a bucket for transporting to the beach for release. Good work done by these people and a very worthwhile cause.

We expected nothing special from this botanical garden after reading reviews and given deserted views on the island after round trips across the island. When we arrived we saw an oasis with fresh green trees, various tropical species growing happily, and many animals having a good life. We took great photos. The garden is fed by the water which is re-used from hotel sewage. Very clever.

After just returning from Cape Verde and visiting the casino the courtesy and professionalism of all the staff is to be commended. After having a lucky night the manageress showed us complete courtesy that evening and all nights afterward. All other staff were very helpful and friendly towards my wife even before our lucky night and i cannot thank them enough for the way that we were treated. Good luck to future travellers to this venue.

This place is amazing - you genuinely do float!! Came here as part of the island tour and highly enjoyable. Just be aware the walk there is downhill, but a bit of an uphill climb on the way back so take suitable footwear!

Spectacular. Part of the ‘Postcards of Sal’ tour. Spent enough time here to enjoy this spectacular natural phenomenon. Small bar and trinket shop available too.

Visited the church while in Sal We were there for the Sunday morning service It Was beautiful with the the kids singing and the adult choir The priest spoke in different languages and made everyone very welcome. The church is open all day but if you can make the Sunday service it is well worth seeing It was very busy and had people sitting outside for the service Take some money as a collection is made to help with the church funds
