Climbed all the stairs, good thing there's an exposition on some of the floors so we could take a breath (I'm not a sporty person).
The exposition about the tower itself could use an upgrade an be a bit more modern. Maybe ad something interactive for the kids? (Since a lot of family's visit the tower)
Once you've reached the top, you can enjoy a great view of the Island an the coast.

We saw the museum as we were visiting Ballum in July 2017. Admission is 5 euros with a coupon for a free liqueur called a Nobeltje at the restaurant Nobel around the corner. this liqueur was so good we bought a large bottle at the liquor store next to the restaurant. anyhow back to the museum, it opened at 1.30pm and to our surprise, the local volunteer gave a tour with humurous anecdotes which made this visit even more worthwhile. the museum is larger than you suspect from the outside. it has a great collection of engines, old cars, bycicles and a complete old fashioned Barber shop and many other collections, too many to mention. a place not to miss when visiting Ballum

One way we were on deck, the other in the cafe. Cafe is comfortably furnished and not taudry. There is a self-service canteen. Booking was easy and value for money - the return fare for foot passengers was under 13 Euros. The parking costs were reasonable (5 Euros a day), the service staff were helpful. You can place your baggagge on a baggage truck, which is the first to unload when you disembark, so you don't have to wait for your luggage and you don't have to drag it about on the ship. The buses on the island are timed to coincide with the ferry arrivals, so even that was easy ! There are also taxis waiting if you prefer that.

enjoyed the 2 hour boat tour and seal viewing with personalized translation by the owner who was an exchange student in Texas. As the only english speaker on board got a very insightful tour of the island . This is a great tour when the weather is ifft which it often is and is very relaxing aboard the luxurious small boat.

Midden op het eiland: de plek waar Ameland haar eigen biertjes brouwt. In allerlei soorten. Voor ieder wat wils. Inclusief prima terras en vriendelijke bediening.

Visiting the seals while they are resting on the sandbank is marvellous but the added value of this trip is the humorous but educational explanation of the crew when they comment on the fish they caught in the 'Waddenzee'. After only 15 minutes hanging out the fishing nets in the sea, they have plenty of fish to comment. And afterwards all of the fish goes back in the sea, alive and kicking... Great activity on a nice day and very educational for kids. It's not all fishsticks... A trip aboard the ship WL35 "Brakzand" is great!!

Afgelopen week 4 keer geweest voor Strandzeilen, ook wel blokarten geheten. Erg leuk. Goede begeleiding, iedereen (incl mijn 10 jarige zoon) leert dit snel en veilig. Uurtje voor €25. Super leuk. Volgend jaar kite surfen in wave surfen.

The story of Ameland and the sea is interesting. The museum tells a story about live on the island and the long history of rescuing crew of ships in need nearby Ameland. The horse rescue boat is nowadays a unique thing.
Make sure you inquire at the tourist office (VVV) for the dates the horse rescue boat is demonstrated. But even without, the museum is worth a visit.
