Something for everyone! Great gifts, Texas Art Gallery, Furniture, Clothing, Fine Jewelry, Kids Gifts, and Men's Gifts. While you are here visit our 5,000 s.f. "Early Hico Photo Exhibit". Collection of Photographs telling the story of Hico's beginnings from the 1890's to the 1920's.
The mercantile store on the first floor is amazing. Loved seeing the Wyman Meinzer photographs for sale, great Texas photographer. Art work, western wear, a vast assortment of items available. Yet, what is so grand about this historic building is the museum of preserved photographs of Hico highlighting the history of this small town. This is a must see if visiting Hico. Staff is super friendly and even recommended viewing the exhibit. If visiting Hico, make this your first stop. You may spend an hour or more here.

Chocolate shop locally crafted by artisans using ethically farmed and traded cocoa beans from different parts of the world then blended in Italy or Belgium for amazing smoothness and quality. We use local fruit and nuts and Texas produced spirits in creative ways producing confections unparalleled. The shop also has unique gifts juried by designer LaDonne Wenzel.
We’ve been going to Wiseman House for years and they truly have the best chocolate you’ve ever had. Their store is adorable and sells a variety of gourmet chocolates, gifts and cute home goods. When we started planning our wedding, we knew we wanted favors from Wiseman! They packaged chocolate truffles in lovely boxes with ribbons for each of our guests and we couldn’t have been happier with how they turned out. The chocolates were delicious and each favor was beautiful! Thank you for helping make our wedding special. Even if you just stop by to taste some chocolate, you don’t want to miss Wiseman House!

As a photographer, my interest was in the old signs painted on the sides of the historic buildings and the titles of the buildings dating back years. It was well worth my time. However, the wife and I enjoyed the fine shopping available as well. Be sure to see Blue Star Trading, really nice staff, and asked to see the preserved photographs on the 3rd floor. Most interesting! Hico is a nice small town and this area is worth a few hours of your time if in the area. Many good restaurants available too, as well as the do not miss Wiseman House chocolates. By the way, it was raining the morning we arrived and it was very pleasant walk.

Hico Mercantile is a collection of shops located in historic downtown Hico, TX. We have over 30 artisans, boutique owners, and designers offering their own unique variety of home decor, clothing, antiques, art and more. Our eclectic atmosphere means there is something here for everyone. Whether you’re local to the area or just passing through, we hope you will stop in and stay awhile.
To tour the former Ford car assembly building and former Opera house is worth it on it's own merit, but once inside you'll find a unique collection of clothing, art, even old fashioned candy. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We'll have to spend more time there on our next visit.

Great little quaint tasting room featuring several locally grown varietals. Really enjoyed our tasting experience wine with Ann. She made the the entire experience so much fun for us. We are fans of dry reds and found all of their featured reds to be quite good. My favorite was the Tempranillo as it had a great earthy feel and the peppery ending I love. Had a glass there after the tasting a bought a bottle for home. Tastings are very reasonable at $10.00 for 7 tastes and bottles are about average for the area. There is such a good feel to this place and I expect it to get better as the business grows. Such a great treat on the way back from Fredericksburg. Will definitely become a regular stop for us.
