I've been to 2 games this month with my family. We enjoyed great seats, fun times, good ball park food and drinks, easy parking and the entry was about what I would have paid to go see a movie. These players are fun to watch!

This art gallery is unique. It contains a few Andy Warhol's, a floor dedicated to Folk Art, an exhibit of a sculpture made of coffee stirrers and some photographic art. It also contains some collections that alluded my knowledge of art. It appeared to be...MoreThank you for your visit. I hope that you will join us again throughout the year as we have new exhibits rotate through the galleries.

Organic and non-organic farm fresh vegetables and fruits abound. You can find handmade soap, cheese, baked goods and a variety of interesting crafts. There is also farm-grown meat and fresh fish. There is a lovely festive atmosphere and the vendors are knowledgeable and friendly. The market is open Saturday morning and Wednesday afternoon. You can also enjoy music, and there is a hotdog stand if you need a snack.

It's a good, rugged hike. There are about 6 miles of trails here. They're not rated for difficulty, but they are very wild. We went later in the morning, so while we could hear birds, they were all camera-shy.
There is an overlook at the top of the mountain on the Orange Trail. Not bad.
Dogs are permitted on leashes, and we encountered a few dogs and their persons.
All in all, it's a good free way to spend an afternoon!

The Harper House and History Center are a wonderful choice for spending a couple of hours in Hickory. The house is absolutely wonderful, especially when decorated for Christmas. The restoration work has been done so beautifully, and the details throughout of Victorian architecture are amazing. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and knowledgeable about the history and design of the house. I highly recommend stopping in.

I have to say what a nice refreshing park with patrons who are just enjoying the moment, especially the Dog walkers, everyone so friendly, the paved trails, the picnic area, the restrooms, alone with the benches placed along the trail, all of this local, near the lake, Perfect!!!

The Hickory Aviation Museum located at the Hickory Regional Airport(HKY) in Hickory North Carolina. We are a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Tax Exempt Organization. We are dedicated to maintaining the facts and artifacts of the Golden Age of Aviation. The Museum provides a unique opportunity for all generations to learn and appreciate aviation history. Free to the Public. Open Tuesday - Sunday.
The displays and especially the old planes outside are really interesting. This little airport, once used for commercial flights, is, in itself, a cool place to see. If you're in Hickory, do drop in.

We listened to a small band in front of the Hickory Wine Shop while we enjoyed a glass of wine and a cheese plate. Then we went down to Fresh Depot for a delicious Salmon dinner outside. We could still hear the music as we ate dinner. So enjoyable.

Great place to take a picnic, hike the trails, put a boat in the water, or just hang out by the lake. This is one of the cleanest public parks I've seen. There was even a group from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church going around picking up the little bit of trash that was there. Nice place and easy to get to.

Maple Grove is an antebellum house near downtown Hickory. It is easy to get to off of I-40, but your GPS may have trouble finding it. It is a few blocks away from the science center/museum.
Self-guided tours are free. If you want, there is a free pamphlet describing the rooms. A large portion of the house is open and furnished, but the basement and attic is closed. The site office is in part of the second floor, but you may go in. The website says that you may pay for a guided tour, but we did not look into this.
This is not a museum with everything labeled or described. Nor are all the rooms stuffed full of anything that might fit in such a house. The rooms are comfortably furnished with antiques. Walking through, I felt like I could move in and live there with everything just as it was.
We took pictures inside and out and were finished within an hour. I wouldn't drive over an hour to see this. I think Maple Grove is more of an attraction either for historical architecture enthusiasts or someone looking for a free, culturally interesting way to spend an hour in Hickory.
