Hayward (/ˈheɪwərd/; formerly, Haywards, Haywards Station, and Haywood) is a city located in Alameda County, California in the East Bay subregion of the San Francisco Bay Area. With a 2014 population of 149,392, Hayward is the sixth largest city in the Bay Area and the third largest in Alameda County. Hayward was ranked as the 37th most populous municipality in California. It is included in the San Francisco–Oakland–Fremont Metropolitan Statistical Area by the US Census. It is located primarily between Castro Valley and Union City, and lies at the eastern terminus of the San Mateo–Hayward Bridge. The city was devastated early in its history by the 1868 Hayward earthquake. From the early 20th century until the beginning of the 1980s, Hayward's economy was dominated by its now defunct food canning and salt production industries.

What a great place to visit in the Bay Area. Nature at its best. Animals to see, stuff to learn. Enjoyable for the kids. Lots to learn. Great staff. Loads of fun. Cheap too.

This Catholic cemetery is beautifully landscaped and well kept. Most recently, both of my parents were buried there as are many other relatives. Bordering the cemetery are vineyards where some of the grapes are used for communion wine and other varietals are bottled for sale by the Diocese. Toward the rear of the cemetery, above the vineyards, there are fields where you will often see cows grazing. It is a very peaceful environment where I visit often and sometimes take a chair and sit at my parents headstone and read or just enjoy the quiet.

We love taking hikes in this particular area mainly because it's close to our home. Views here are great and it's vast meadows and a pond as well.

At TPC Stonebrae Country Club, breathtaking natural landscaping harmonizes in perfect balance with the luxurious design and myriad amenities of an unrivaled country club community. The Clubhouse features breathtaking views expanding 75 miles of the Bay Area in almost every direction-from San Jose to Oakland to Downtown San Francisco. The par-72, 7,200-yard championship layout was designed by world-renowned Scottish golf course architect David McLay Kidd to blend harmoniously with its unspoiled surroundings on Walpert Ridge, more than 1,500 feet above the East Bay. The course's design takes full advantage of the topography's sweeping panoramic vistas, rolling grasslands, wind-twisted oaks, and lichen-glazed outcroppings to create a stunning test of golf reminiscent of the grand links-style courses of Scotland.

We paid our respects at Lone Tree Cemetery. The cemetery has been in Hayward since 1868. It is 42 acres. It holds one of the oldest continuous Memorial day celebrations in Alameda county.

While many motorists hurry to get through Hayward, the beautiful murals provide wonderful reflections when one is inevitably paused at traffic lights. This has been, in my view, a wonderful Hayward beautification project and I've enjoyed the variety of murals and painted signal boxes all over town on my daily drive.

Beautiful park with lots of benches and Koi Fish Pond with turtles. I go there sometimes to relax or meditate. Closes about 3pm.
