COVID-19 took away my trip to Uganda and Gulu. I was reliving some of my favorite places in Uganda, and this is a highlight of the trip. First of all, if you go to Uganda, you have to bring back gifts for family and friends, Their shop is a must stop. Friendly people, at times you can see them working, and great items at reasonable prices, plus talk to the women—ask them the meaning of Wawoto Kacel. Easiest way to get there take a fun Boda, Boda ride. Just tell them Waworo Kacel next to the Golden Peace Hotel.

Nice room in a traditional hit. Spacious with mosquito net, hot shower, Wi-Fi, bar, restaurant and an amazing community centre that provides programs and facilities for the youth. If you are looking for an authentic stay and ethical impact this is a must. Friendly staff and great food too

These ruins and giant rocks were the place of horrendous activities and witness the arab slave trade. People from the north of Uganda were abducted and gathered to this place where slave traders would decide of their fate : to be beheaded or to continue an endless trip to Egypt/Middle east by feet. The British took possession of the place claiming the will to end this shameful business, only to colonize the country a few years later. It was on Sunday, no guide around, and an old drunkard from a village, carrying a machete, followed us and insisted to be our guide. unfortunately, this place is very much unknown and quite abandoned by the ministry of tourism.
