The Michigan History Center fosters curiosity, enjoyment and inspiration rooted in Michigan's stories. Home to both the Archives of Michigan and the Michigan History Museum, the Michigan History Center offers experiences for visitors of all ages and interests. There is no admission charge for the museum on Sundays. There is no admission charge for the Archives of Michigan. The Archives are open 1:00 - 5:00 pm Monday-Friday, and 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on Saturday.
I love History, and I am trying to work my way through the state checking off all the major venues from the bucket list. This museum had plenty of parking, a friendly staff, and was reasonably priced. If you have the SSS "park pass", the cost is cheaper. Price I do not recall, but I wanna say it was $4 versus $6. We went on a Saturday, so we did not have to pay to park. I guess on Sunday you can get in free we were told.
The museum is two levels and it's very well laid out with good displays and a variety of information. There is a snack shop on the first floor, but it did not appear to be open weekends. There was a vending machine however. We opted to do the first level, then drive down a few blocks and eat, then come back.
It did not take us long to get through the museum, even reading a lot of the displays as a couple with no children in tow. However, it is an affordable way to spend an afternoon learning something new.

The Country Mill orchard is the only mid-Michigan cider mill where a family can pick fresh apples, peaches, and blueberries at the same farm. We also offer our own locally grown vegetables such as sweet corn, winter squash, and pumpkins. In the fall, come enjoy tasting our homemade wines, hard cider, pies, donuts, and other baked goods. We also offer tours on Tuesday through Friday in September and October. Many activities on the weekends in the fall. Weddings and private parties year around.
It's a bit early but we made our yearly trip over to the Country Mil and bought some delicious Honeycrisp Apples and as we looked over their unique items in their store the Pumpkin Doughnuts were calling to me :) They have sugared and non-sugared. They both are so good! You can pick your own apples or snap a cute pic in their photo area. The Country Mill is a orchard, cider mill, winery and farm market where you can pickck your own apples, blueberries, peaches and pumpkins at their 120 acre farm. You can take a break inside and enjoy their fresh donuts, caramel apples, and pies in their bakery. Go and discover unique gifts, hard cider, wine and fresh apple cider. They grow and produce organic apples, cider, applesauce, apple butter and vinegar. Feel free to give them a call to find out which apples are ready.

I was shocked and surprised to see this scenery in lower western Michigan . The bluffs and sandstone formations are very beautiful . The reflection of the trees off the river at the cement boardwalk is picturesque. I walked The Ledges Trail . It got dark about an hour after we arrived . So we unfortunately couldn't get a really good hike in . I loved what I did see and would go back .

Designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1992, this building has served as Michigan's seat of state government since its completion in 1879.
This is one of the better marketed Capitols we have visited. We toured the building with a 3rd grade class and found it educational and entertaining. We appreciated learning more about the Capitol. It was great to learn that one of Michigan's favorite governors, Austin Blair, was an abolitionist.

Artisan Distillery and Microbrewery focusing on small batch spirits and beer. The rotating tap features approximately (10) beers, wines and other seasonal selections (such as cider or perry).
I thoroughly enjoyed there craft brews. Some unique styles that left me wanting to come back a few more times to try other beers. Nice atmosphere. Seems that they're constantly making improvements to the space which is nice. Bathroom could use some work.As you noted we are constantly evolving the space and will use your comments to focus our improvements! Thank you for your kind review.

Joshua Simmons served several years fighting for what is now the United States. He was a Revolutionary soldier and moved to Michigan to join his youngest son. He died in Eagle and is buried on what was his son's property and is now the North Eagle Cemetery. I am pleased his grave is preserved and noted for future generations.

We have done trail rides here with our children and grandchildren various times over the years and it has been a good experience. Our 11-year old granddaughter wanted to attend the four-day horse camp so we sent her. She absolutely loved it!! Every night she was full of excitement sharing what they had done that day and couldn't wait to return the next day. She has already asked to go again next year. The staff were friendly and knew exactly what they were doing; it was a great experience for our granddaughter. On the final day, family joins the riders in the evening for a display of what they have learned, a hot-dog roast, and a hay ride. Highly recommend Sundance Riding Stables for either an hour or two trail ride or the horse camp.

This 18-hole course at 6,347 yards offers a comfortable and relaxing game of golf.
Played here in May 2012 with a friend. The course was in very nice condition. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We paid for 9-holes , when we finished we asked if we could play the other 9 holes. They charged us just the difference between the 9-hole and 18-hole rate. The course is 18-holes par 72 and 6387 yars from the tips with a 124 slope. The white tees are 6072 yards with a slope of 122.

From rare vehicles like REO, Star, Durant, and Viking to classic Oldsmobiles, buggies, bicycles, aviation endeavors, trucks and engines- enjoy the excitement of transportation history! See why we are rated one of "The Ten Best Automobile Museums in the United States" exhibiting a small collection, by Car Collector Magazine.
I visited the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum in October 2017 during a visit to Lansing. The museum staff were very helpful in answering questions about the museum and the museum has a variety of cars to look at from all different decades of the 20th...MoreThanks so much for visiting and for the review!
