The political, scientific, historical, architectural and business center of Russia, Moscow displays the country's contrasts at their most extreme. The ancient and modern are juxtaposed side by side in this city of 10 million. Catch a metro from one of the ornate stations to see Red Square, the Kremlin, the nine domes of St. Basil's Cathedral, Lenin's Mausoleum, the KGB Museum and other symbols of Moscow's great and terrible past, then lighten up and shop Boulevard Ring or people watch in Pushkin Square.

Pinballs or pinball machines was very popular in the 60-70 years, but cause of modern computer technology, now they are almost forgotten. Single copies can now only be found in old hotels or small shopping centers. Fans of Pinball around the world collect and restore machines and the biggest collections became museums and exhibitions.

New building of the Tretyakov Gallery at 10 Krymsky Val houses a unique museum exhibition of modern Russian art features works by Chagall, Kandinsky, Malevich and other 20th-century artists. In the same building there is the Central House of Artists, and around there is a Sculpture Park.
This fantastic museum is another must see if you are visiting Moscow and you love modern art. It’s a bit far from the main State Tretyakov Gallery, but it’s totally worth a trip. You will see many famous paintings here, the collection is wonderful! Besides, there is a lovely garden outside the building that contains many beautiful statues and sculptures as well. Plan at least two hours here. We unfortunately had only one hour and so we didn’t see everything (we skipped on temporary exhibits). The entrance is also 500 rubles just like the State Tretyakov Gallery and it has longer opening hours on some days too. There were almost no people when we visited in the evening so if you want some space while strolling, come after 6 PM on one of those days.

I visited this park (and three adjoining others straight on from it) during my last stay in Russia. It was a scorchingly hot day, and it was so lovely. You can amble around and the park is quiet and well kept. There are some absolute gems dotted around the park. It's also perfectly located- you can walk around the Moscow River, see the old Red October Chocolate Factory and Statue of St Peter the Great, all along the way. And then straight on, there are many other lovely parks too. Perfect on a hot summer day!

Founded in 2008 by Dasha Zhukova and Roman Abramovich, Garage is the first privately owned philanthropic organization in Russia to create a comprehensive public mandate for contemporary art and culture. One of the Museum’s key missions is the promotion of contemporary art as a space for public dialogue and reflection on the questions societies are facing today. As well as exhibitions by some of the most influential Russian and international artists working today (including Marina Abramović, Raymond Pettibon, Viktor Pivovarov, and Yayoi Kusama), Garage offers visitors a broad-ranging education program for children and adults, as well as film screenings, concerts, performances, and other events. Garage Bookshop is open daily and offers a great selection of books, magazines, and souvenirs produced in Moscow, including some made in collaboration with artists. In our comfortable café with a summer terrace and original cuisine you can even order breakfast at any time of day.
Great place for contemporary art lovers. Well made and with some superb options. Had a chance to see two different exhibitions and was happy for new experience. Place offers place to eat and have a drink or two, and book store gives much more then usual places. Chance to get books from different places and from different point of view, some clothing and original prints. Place is affordable and is part of Gorky park so chance to combine day with extra activities.
