This store is a delightful place to hunt for that unexpected gift for your friend with a distinctive collection. The whole store is arranged by interest, like cats or dogs or cowboy boots or angels or porcelain boxes. Their other specialty is vintage clothing for dressing in a particular period. All of the store is fun eye candy, and most items are small enough to make great stocking stuffers.

We went to the Cotton Bowl Speedway in Feb 2014. We had a great time, weather was 79 degrees. The have recently built this track and have invested alot of time and money to make this a fun family atmosphere. They had a race simulator to entertain the fans and everyone had a great time. The people were friendly lots of fabulous food. Run efficiently.

We were on a wildflower tour and this was our last stop and our FAVORITE. You must visit the Painted Church on the grounds - breathtaking. Very interesting history of the Wend People and their immigration to the US from eastern Germany in mid-1800s. Staffed by relatives of Wend immigrants who love to share their history and culture with you.

Whistle-Stop Antiques is located just east of the downtown area on Austin St. [Hwy 290]. The large, clean, and bright building is home to dozens of booths, filled with a wonderful variety of antique furniture and household items, vintage clothing, pottery and glassware, books, Americana, collectables, and much more. We spent over an hour drifting from booth to booth and finding a number of fun things to take home. Plenty of parking and a friendly, helpful staff. We look forward to our next visit. A must-stop in Giddings.

This 1899 stone and brick courthouse is the jewel of this small town. Step inside , even during the ongoing renovation and shoring up to view from the doorway the oldtime courtrooms. Exploring the basement was interesting with its vault doors leading to records storerooms and...the restrooms. Staff is very friendly-- even regaling us with ghost stories of the wandering cowboy and other not so recently departed spirits. Wish there were more historical markers in the structure itself or at least info available. But maybe the renos have displaced them.

This museum, located in the restored freight depot building, takes you back to the glory days of passenger rail travel. Exhibits explain the history of the Houston and Central Texas Railway and varied displays include information about trains, depots, and the agents who managed the depots. I enjoyed the exhibit about the famous railroad watches. Also located in the depot is an interesting exhibit on Texas lawmen and outlaws, including local desperado, William "Wild Bill" Longley. Located in the front of the depot are a number of racks containing touring information for many other locations in Texas. The Chamber of Commerce office and the Rural Texas Tourism office is located in the restored Passenger depot next door. This is the first place to go when visiting Giddings.

While St. Paul Lutheran Church and the old cabin have a Giddings mailing address, they are actually located in the small rural community of Serbin. Persons interested in early Lutheran history in Texas would enjoy visiting this church, the cemetery, and the remains of the old cabin. This painted church is very near the Wendish Museum.

Roadhouse Antiques is owned by Don and Jackie. We met Jackie and she is a delight. They offer "diamonds to donuts & everything in between! We saw antiques, vintage linens, home decor, buttons, outdoor furniture, primitives, light flxtures and collectibles. I purchased some beautifully hand-crocheted, vintage pillow cases. I also found some delicate vintage hankies to add to my collection I donate to a grief group.

Constructed in 1886, this church has been in continuous service for over 120 years. Located on the corner of the courthouse square, the striking, historic building is a great photo opportunity while visiting the courthouse. Try to get a combined picture of the church and the Schubert-Fletcher Home [1879], across the street, for a peek into the past. Check with the Giddings Visitors Center about tours.

This is the final resting place of legendary Texas outlaw and gunfighter, William "Bill" Longley [1851-1878]. Located in the Giddings City Cemetery, west of town, the grave is well marked and includes a Texas Historical Marker. A knee-high petrified-wood marker once stood over the grave, but has been eroded by time and visitors over the years. A interesting stop for Texas and Old West history fans.
