A bit off the tourist route you will find Soos, a National Nature Reserve in the Czech Republic.
Coming from Saxony into the Czech Republic make your way towards Marianske Lazne. Once you passed Frantiskovy Lazne (go left to Marianske Lazne and Cheb, not into the town of FL) you will see a small sign (Was it brown or red? Cannot remember) that shows the way to Soos.
There is a car park and a museum and of course a board walk through the nature reserve (also a mini zoo). Inside the museum you can purchase the ticket for the attractions which we didnt know. So we walked there for free. Was not clearly said we needed to pay.
The nature reserve is really interesting as you can see some kind of "volcanic" action (no hot Springs but bubbly Springs with gas in it as much as we understood - so it is safe for kids we assume) or you can just enjoy the beautiful nature along the board walk. We turned around after a while as some locals told us when you continue walking until the end of the board walk you need to walk back on the street. So we took the boardwalk back to the car park. Really enjoyed it!

After visiting numerous castle and chateau one gets a bit sick and tired of seeing more and more rooms full of art and hunting trophys. As for Cheb castle that's a different story. We loved visiting the ruins of Chen castle. There are few places you can enter like the torture room, arms room, there is a lovely chapel just be aware to walk upstairs one has to be quite slim. We also walked up the Black Tower where you can take in the views.

Such a cutie! The statue is inside the park a bit hidden. If you cannot find it, just ask some people there. Everyone knows that little guy :)
The fun part: in winter someone sweet knitted some clothes for him as he is usually a little nudie dudie :) The bath of Frantiskovy Lazne is named after him.

The group of 11 merchant’s houses dating back to 13 th century built as 4 storey houses due to the lack of the space makes unique atmosphere of this historical center. Spalicek is must seen while in Cheb.
During the advent time there is free ice ring as part of wooden stall marker offering Christmas stuff and typical snack and drinks.

This scenic and well-manicured city park features Sádová Kolonáda, an ornate, wrought-iron gazebo.
If you want to escape the crowds this park is for you.I am not sure if the rule applied in summer months but during winter this park is almost deserted. There is a statue of Antonin Dvorak, famous Czech composer there and the Park Colonnade is on the edge of the park.

The pool is impressively large covered partially inside the SPA complex and partially outside with slides. People of all ages, families with children or elder were there. There was also a hot Jacuzzi small pool adjacent. As resident of the Pawlik hotel we had free access to the Aquaforum.

St. Nicholas Church is the oldest church in Cheb. Originally Romanesque rebuilding, in the Gothic style, the Baroque, Neo finally in. There are other churches, for example. St. Bartholomew, the Annunciation, the Evangelical Pokoje Church ,further castle, and so called Špalíček

Frantiskovy is lacking the atmosphere of Karlovy Vary and Marianske Lazne. It reminds a bit of a film set which is waiting to be called into action. No doubt lovely buildings, but it lacks any atmosphere. The Kolonaden were not too appealing, but it was worthwhile seeing it all the same.

A spacious and airy hall, with many Springs, pleasant wall frescoes, a lot of Seating and written information about the Springs. A place to relax and enjoy the local mineral water. If you have no cup, helpful staff supplies a free plastic one so that you can have a drink. The building is in a peasant park not far from the centre.

posto divertente dove passare un'oretta tra oggetti davvero comuni molto retro ma anche al quanto bizzarri ed originali! Mi ha fatto ridere vedere esposto come una reliquia un disco in vinile di Drupi... si avete capito bene Drupi! :-)
