I love seeing the city from above. This drive is not for the faint of heart. Gorgeous views on a narrow road. Get out and give it a try.

I have made three tandem jumps with the professional staff at Skydive Colorado. I was fortunate to find a skydiving Company that is located less than 35 minutes from my residence. I am recommending this Company to all my friends and relatives in the surrounding area. In addition, I have friends and relatives who live outside of the State of Colorado that will soon become aware of this skydiving Company.

Desert Reef Hot Spring

Reviewed By DNBJunglist - Colorado Springs, Colorado

My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night here and absolutely loved it! People need to know that it's clothing optional (On Fridays bathing suits are required) and it is a kid friendly area but unless you have mature children, I wouldn't bring kids here. I personally don't want to hear young kids asking questions about body parts. I am a mother of 2 young boys and I wouldn't want to bring them here only because they would be noisy and I believe folks want to relax in a hot spring.
We were greeted by a very nice gentleman, Matt, who kept checking on the temperature of the pool (it is one hot spring pool but as you move around it you'll feel the different areas where some parts are hotter than others) and he put a bell out and we could ring it if we needed assistance. We arrived around 4:30 pm and there were 8 other people there. I loved how they had noodles that you could use in the pool so you can easily lounge. There was a beer garden that has a microwave and fresh water jug so you can refill your water bottle to keep hydrated.
I loved that outside food and drinks are allowed (no glass) which suited me perfectly to bring dinner and plastic bottled drinks and they have a recycling bin to dispose of plastics and cans as well as other trash.
The website is informative where I found all the information so I knew what I was allowed and not allowed to bring as well as to what to expect. No cameras are allowed, which is fine since some people are nude while bathing, but I wish I could have taken a picture of a nice sculpture where you can see Pikes Peak over her shoulder!
As evening came, more folks showed up. There are tables and lounge chairs all around so finding a place to put your stuff down was no issue. There are showers and bathrooms on site as well.
Over all, I think this is a nice gem in a not often travelled part of the state but we enjoyed the 4 hours we spent there relaxing, meeting new people and high quality of customer service. We will back again soon!

Tunnel Drive

We really liked this hike along the river. The first 1/2 mile was the best, however, with the cool tunnels to walk through. We kept hoping to go through more, but after 2.5 miles, we gave up. I recommend going early in the day, it was HOT, and there is very little shade, except for the tunnels at the beginning. Also, watch out for rattlesnakes. We encountered one very close to the trail.

Reviewed By as1032015 - Austin, Texas

I really didn't want to write this review, but alas, here I am. After much back and forth to no avail, I have come to the internet to air my grievances.

I will start with the good. Royal Gorge Skydive was extremely safe, which is obviously the most important thing to look for in a sky diving company. They were very thorough and I was at ease the entire time knowing that I was in very capable hands. The experience was incredible (first timer over here) and the view was spectacular. I skydived with my entire family (6 total) and each of our instructors did a great job at making us feel more than comfortable.

However, if I could do it all over again, I'd choose somewhere else and that is my reason for the one star rating. We arrived for our 10am dive at around 9:45am. The first person in our party didn't dive until 12:30pm. But then, of course, the pilot and instructors wanted lunch, so we had to do even more waiting. Now this wouldn't be a huge deal if it had been made known earlier. We are patient folks and were really just enjoying the family time together. However, we definitely would have packed a cooler with some lunch and drinks. We were coming in from out of town, so we kenneled our dogs. If we had known in advance that they would just be taking two divers at a time with extended intervals in between and before, we would have brought our dogs with us, too! But instead we were just famished with a limited amount of vending machines drink options and our sweet pups anxiously awaiting our return. Again, not a big deal and I would have let it slide if everything else went well.

But it didn't.

For all 6 in our party, we had purchased the dive package with video and pictures. However, only 4 out of the 6 of us got what we paid for and that is absolutely unacceptable. One member only received pictures, no video and another member received NOTHING. I fancy myself a pretty understanding person and I know that sometimes technology fails us. I totally get that. BUT if it does, as a business, you MUST provide some sort of compensation. That didn't happen. If it had, if Royal Gorge Skydive had righted their wrong, they would probably be getting a 4 star rating out of me (the waiting game was still pretty annoying). I (and other members of our party) spent day after day calling and asking about these pictures. Each time it was followed by a "we're looking into it," "we'll figure it out," "give it a couple days," "they should be up there," etc. But nothing ever happened. Our incessant emails and phone calls were just falling on deaf ears. And sometimes very rude ears. It's not so much the missing pictures and videos that bother me, I still have the wonderful memory stored in my brain. But it's the complete disrespect for us as customers. Now, we paid for these features. The right thing to do would be to offer a partial refund or another dive, but nope. Nothing. They just kept deflecting our calls and emails. I can only assume they were hoping that we would just forget about it and they'd never hear from us again. Unfortunately, as a last resort I am writing this review. Hopefully in the future they will learn to respect their customers and give them what they pay for, but until then you should go somewhere else. There are plenty of other skydiving companies in the area. Seriously, if you want your money's worth, go to one of the others. This place isn't worth it, even with a groupon.

I chose a one star rating because I fear that anything more won't garner the attention that this post deserves. You can't treat your customers this way. Not providing services that your customer paid for is, by definition, stealing. Until Royal Gorge Skydive can figure that out, they shouldn't be getting any more service.

What a drop dead gorgeous drive - brilliant red rocks, crystal clear river and views that can't be best.

The drive is not for the feint hearted as there are numerous places where huge chunks of the road are gone resulting in sudden drops to the canyon below. Totally worth it, but be careful!!

My husband and I have been visiting this place for a few years now. I admit it needs some love but overall, it is a nice experience. The water is a great temperature and it is a constant flow through system so the water changes out often. We visited right around xmas 2016. Larry and Rocio are the new hosts. We could tell the difference. The place is much improved and much cleaner. I tell you, it takes a woman's touch! I've read some reviews that weren't so positive, complaining about 'nudity, god forbid. Get over it. And if families want to bring their kids there, they must not be bothered by it.
People are friendly, I have never felt uncomfortable there. It needs some work so if the owner could put some money into it, it has great potential.

World's Largest Rocking Chair (Former)

Reviewed By Lokiamus - Denver, Colorado

Cool little roadside attraction should you find yourself travelling on Hwy 115 through Penrose. Keep an eye out for the (former) “World’s Largest Rocking Chair”. After miles of almost nothing, what a pleasant surprise. When built in 1990, this was the largest rocking chair measuring in at 21 feet tall, 14 feet wide, and weighing in at 9,100 pounds with a foot-thick seat. The chair was built from 12 hand-hewn Douglas Fir logs, 25 tubes of caulk and 6 gallons of glue. It’s a very visible landmark that sits out front of the now closed Doxey’s Apple Shed soon to reopen as a medical marijuana grow & infusing laboratory. If you stay on the alert with your camera at the ready you won’t be disappointed with a great shot.

We visited the winery an hour. Store they closed. They had many people at their tasting counter so we had to wait a moment. They didn't rush us at all and all the ladies were wonderful. They have all of their wines for sale, and many other wine inspired items.

This was a lot more interesting than I anticipated. Gave me a strange feeling looking at an actual gas chamber and reading about those who were executed in it. Didn't realize that movies were actually filmed on the premise. You can either do the recorded audio self guided tour or take a pamphlet and read about each of the displays.
